@domubpkm It's good to hear that after 6 months you are still happy with the phone! I think too that the partnership with Hallo Welt Systeme/Volla is a good thing. I like the fact that we can buy newer hardware with pre-installed UT now. But I hope that the partnership won't be exclusive, and other Linux'es will also deliver a mature OS for the Volla Phone and team up, so Hallo Welt/Volla can grow. The more users, the better for UT and other Linux Phone OS'es and the manufacturer of the Volla Phone. It would be great if eventually other manufacturers follow to make open source phones that welcome Linux.

@scandi51 Waydroid has it's own website http://www.waydro.id/ and Telegram group https://t.me/WayDroid you could try asking there. There is also some info here https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6764/anbox-halium-or-waydroid-no-support-for-ut/25 we also have a French group here https://t.me/UBports_French if that is easier.

@quget It would be great if you could give feedback on the apps you have tested on Waydroid. Especially if you have tested a mail client. Thanks

@kugiigi Thanks. I've investigated a bit further. I'm using a Qi charger not an NFC charger (although NFC charging technology does exist apparently) so the NFC being enabled or disabled wasn't affecting the wireless charging of the Volla phone at all. It looks like it was just a coincidence that charging by USB started working after I switched off NFC andd rebooted Ive tried out a few combinations of things and everything is working correctly. I'm going to put the USB charging problem down to the battery being down to 4%. I've seen another comment about the Volla phone acting strangely at times below 10% charge. Possibly switching off NFC reduced the load on the low battery enough to get USB charging working again. Or it was all just a glitch. Worth raising the issue though in case a pattern starts to emerge with other Volla users.

@totalsonic Unfortunately the guide to install Anbox is not online any more. On https://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/userguide/dailyuse/anbox.html it is said, that you have to install the Anbox kernel after each Ubuntu Touch update. Otherwise one can put the UT device on an unstable state. Can someone tell me how to install or update Anbox. I have installed it some times ago, but after some UT updates WhatsApp indeed crashes often Thanks in advance, Max

@treebeard Thanks for that very useful info. The import in to the UK issue is I admit very confusing, new to most and I'm sure many are not ready for import duty etc. Including many SMO's inside and outside of Europe. Lets see if things get clearer in a few months time. I quite like the look of the X but every parcel that arrives here gets the -is that another/how many phones do you need- look from everyone

@s710 This may seem like a lot to me, but UT on the volla is quite power consuming indeed even though there seems to be a slight improvement since OTA-18. Maybe you can add a comment at the issue i opened here

@totalsonic thank you for the answer, as a web developer of webapps, my question was meant to understand the limitation of MorphBrowser in the context of custom webapp on Ubuntu Touch.

@s710 You might observe, as I do, these bad behaviors (unpleasant but not blocking) on the Volla https://github.com/ubports/morph-browser/issues/495 I should update this as the issue is on every channel : https://github.com/ubports/morph-browser/issues/357

@domubpkm That's a good question, I didn't think to test that when I wrote my last post. It seems to not accept MMS messages, I've yet to send one (It's been so long since I've used an OS that actually supports MMS that I've gotten out of the habit of using it), but as it doesn't accept them I doubt it will send them either. So, to clarify my point more. As of July 2021 the Volla Phone can: Send and receive phone calls Voice mail works Mobile data works (2G, 3G and 4G all tested) MMS doesn't work On O2 in the UK.

I have a similar issue on Volla with the upgrade to 16.04(OTA17) with these apps not working. Did this resolve with a full re-install?

@3t_ed usually 2.4Ghz has more range, while 5Ghz is faster. But that was not my point. In my router, I can configure if I want to have 2 seperate wifi-accespoints for each frequency, or if I want to have only one accespoint and the devices and/or the router are deciding dynamically which frequency will be used. My impression is, that the issues described by jimpson, are happening if my router is configured to only provide one accesspoint for both frequencies.

It's better that Ut doesn't see it so it doesn't ask you to format the sd, if you do that you lose everything, it's not just for android, you also want to use the sd in a video or photo camera, You never know where you can use it. Regards...
