PinePhone will be my next daily driver! 😍

Anyway, I wonder if it's running the latest codes from the edge channel. I see the system indicator still having the user list.

is it right to assume that the PinePhone, being a Linux phone, won't need Libertine to run Xorg apps?

No. It is "more" of a Linux phone than others that run some (old, forked) version of the Linux kernel in the sense that it runs a recent upstream version of the Linux kernel.

Everything that happens on top of the kernel is up to the distro you run. In the case of Ubuntu Touch, it will be Mir and Libertine. If you run Plasma, Lune, Postmarket, something else it will be whatever that distro provides

Thanks for posting. Indeed we'll start taking pre-orders for Brave heart edition PinePhone this month. I am happy to report that Ubuntu Touch is already very well supported on the PinePhone, but I would be cautious in calling it 'daily-driver'- worthy yet.

In other words, please be mindful that this is indeed for early adopters ...

Great news! Made an initial update to the OP with the order date. Will update more details when I have more time later and will update the PineTime thread's OP too. Exciting stuff!

I didn't see a ton to add aside from the initial order date of the Brave Heart release, but that's very good news indeed.

@PINE64 any idea yet (sorry if I missed it) of how long the Brave Heart window will be open and how many orders you'll be able to take?

Yea, it will most likely run out of stock very quickly.
I need to decide now so I can race to buying it πŸ˜„

Thanks for all the positive feedback πŸ™‚ we do realize that 3K isn't exactly a large production-run, but its a start, and its all we can muster before the year comes to an end (and CNY starts). They'll likely be bought up really quickly, and lets hope that by the right people: who wish to test, offer feedback to devs and to us, and have an understanding that software will still be beta-like.

                                          Hello @PINE64
Thank you again for your tremendous work done in collaboration with Ubports, for the clarity displayed in your speech and for keeping to the timetable as much as possible.
A little clarification is necessary for me to be sure: for the final product in March 2020 if this is known for sure now:
How many versions of Pinephones and which ones will be for sale?
                                          Thanks

@domubpkm Do you mean hardware versions/ variations or how many units will we produce?
I don't know if next year we'll release just the announced version 2GB RAM + 16GB eMMC, or if a special edition will be available at some point with 3GB RAM and more storage. This hasn't been decided yet.

As for how many units will be produced after CNY 2020, I cannot predict exact number, but the smallest the factory is willing to do is 10K from what I remember. Obviously that is just the very start. A conservative number for 2020 as is 40-50K, but given the amount of interest I expect there will be much more than that.
