      @UBportsNews

So... it's the end of June, which means holiday season is officially here! ☀️🏖️🌴
This time, I've got a slightly more personal question for everyone...

What are your plans for the holidays? Got any exciting adventures lined up? Exploring new places? Hiking mountains? Relaxing with family? Or perhaps skinny-dipping on the beaches of Spain? 😏

Come on, share the juicy details with us! We'd love to hear what you're up to this summer. ✈️😎

    • RE: [Discussion] What works for fund raising?

@RJDan i would say some sort of competition for a new app, and i would gladly donate a few bucks. because its win win, developer gets rewarded, community gets rewarded with new contributions that people have to like to get the reward, means thoughtfull and usefull apps

    • RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 192 call for questions.

I understand that, and to be clear, this isn't meant as a complaint or even an expression of frustration. In fact, I recently chose to buy a Fairphone 5 specifically because of its longer support horizon and the active development around it.

My question is more about how the UBports Foundation views this challenge in the long term. Are there already discussions about future approaches that could help address the growing complexity of hardware support? Or perhaps ideas within the community that could lead to a more sustainable solution while we preserve a unified experience across different devices?

I'm not so much interested in the current limitations, we all know those exist... but rather in the broader vision. How does the foundation see the path forward when it comes to maintaining convergence and a consistent user experience across all devices.

    • RE: Workaround for Internet access restrictions affecting ubports-installer

@developerbayman i know it is dangerous to talk in behalf of others, but from my understanding the normal "users" are looking for a easy understandable no techy solution for installing ubuntu touch locally without any knowledge of terminal commands. either a good instructed guide, either a ubports kinda installer that manages to make grandma install ubuntu touch locally during her process of making her Russian salad for the family dinner.

to add, this seems to become more and more relevant due restrictions and rules that are slowly being pushed by our gouverments worldwide.

    • RE: Jami as better communication option for Ubuntu Touch

@Moem Yea from the video, and what i have read, it is a nice application on paper.

Also there signup process for account creation is just your "username" no email or phone number required, that is also a really nice privacy first account creation.

However now that i think of it 😬 , usernames are pretty target able for a lot of people.
So a even better account creation would be to create a random available id, and change the nickname after.

So yes if someone is willing to build it, and maybe some research further to see how it is actually handling the encryption and security aspect of chat, voice and video calling... it will most likely be nice to have in the openstore.

@kugiigi Atleast the next update will probably fix the apps being on top of clicks, unless it has more negative reviews.

but yea this probably needs a lot of mir2, osk and content-hub integration before it is any useful, wiith exception from a few apps.

@Zer0 Pleas keep sharing, i don't want buttons on my home screen, but i am glad you build it...
i know there is a lot of people out there that do want exactly that.

i like Kugi's attempt more to organize the launcher, that works like a charm for me.
That is the beauty of Ubuntu Touch, if you can dream it you can build it.

@Perrete I am running 24.04-2.x daily and my gps did not break after installing, maybe something else is going wrong, can you give more background info? like how do you know your gps broke, are you outside? is the location setting enabled?

    • RE: No more GPS

@Perrete you can reflash the system image without harming your personal files. it is a quick fix to make sure all system files are correctly functioning.

However, i do run the same device, and installing the application you mention didnt harm my gps at all, it enhanced it actually.

@Privacy-freedom i believe that freetube is far from a native experience,
unless you are docking. buttons are to small, hard to interact with.

Hopefully we can have a local database for subscriptions one day xD

@nomadster Atleast it is good to know the porter is pretty active, and i have seen some news on possible solutions for the current issues they are facing with the root sizing issues...

so fingers crossed that they can fix it, once they are able to ... there is some promising updates on the horizon 🙂

If you find difficulties installing and configurating the "hacks" or "tuning" mentioned by @keneda, dont hesitate to ask!

      oh and welcome!
