    • RE: Install Ut on Xiaomi Note 9 pro

@madas Yes you need to create Xiaomi account to be able to unlock phone's bootloader. What 155 hours long process means, is that it is some security measure from Xiaomi, if I understand it right. When you try to unlock bootloader for the first time it fails and tells you to wait 155 hours (1 week) and after that time you should be able to unlock bootloader without problems.
As for point number 3: Phone must be running Android 10, for system partitions to be in correct place for UT installer to work, otherwise you could end up bricking the phone. So if you are on version 11 you need to downgrade, there should be links to Android 10 ROMs somewhere in this thread.
For example I used this ROM:
Redmi Note 9 Pro Global EEA
      Stable
      Fastboot
      V12.0.1.0.QJZEUXM
      Android 10.0
      4.3 GB
      2020-11-10
      Download https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/joyeuse/stable/V12.0.1.0.QJZEUXM/
Point 4: You must downgrade if phone is running version 11 or newer.
If there is something else I missed from your post just ask.

EDIT: Phone must be running Android 10 to be able to install UT.

    • RE: App grouping

      @josele13 said in App grouping:

I think Waydroid apps should be in Waydroid, not put android apps launchers in the UT launcher

I agree with you, or there should be an option when installing Waydroid for not adding Waydroid apps into UT launcher.

      @emphrath said in App grouping:

Add to this the relics of Waydroid uninstalled apps and you're in for a burning hell of scrolling everytime you want to do sth slightly unusual

You can manually delete uninstalled (or currently installed) apps from launcher by finding its .desktop files in /home/phablet/.local/share/applications, though some app come back into launcher at next launch of Waydroid for some reason.

    • Dual SIM functionality

I am planning to buy Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and put in two SIM cards. On UT devices page there is no mention about dual SIM functionality. Does that mean that two SIM cards is not possible to use at the same time? Or this feature is not yet implemented on this phone because it uses a hybrid slot for the cards (2 SIMs or 1 SIM + microSD card)?

    • RE: Device Setup on Android 10

Just a quick question, does it matter if I install Android 10 ROM which is Global or Europe (EEA) one? Or is there a way to check which ROM type is currently installed in the device?

    • RE: Dual SIM functionality

@josele13 Thank you for your answer, just one more thing: Is it slot dependent for card to be for example in slot 2 to make calls (on Oneplus 6/6T it is) or it doesn't matter? And both SIMs can receive and send messages? Can't wait to try Ubuntu Touch on this device!

    • RE: Device Setup on Android 10

@nitanmarcel The phone was bought in Europe, so my guess is that it has Europe ROM, but I don't now this for certain. Will install probably the Europe one then and I hope there won't be any problems with installation of UT later. Thanks for your answer.

@josele13 Managed to flash UT to my Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 pro today, it seems to work fine, but not sure if OTG is supposed to work or not, have you tested it?

@josele13 Tested it again and it turns out, my OTG dongle is bad, because with another it was working fine. And also checked settings and it is showing, that total storage is 223 GB, but the phone is only 128GB, I am confused now.

    • Incoming call not shown

Lately I had this weird problem that people are able to call me, but my phone doesn't ring, neither I get missed call notification. This mostly happens after losing cellular service (going into tunnels, low coverage areas, etc.) and the issue disappears after reboot. It is possible that telephony service somehow disconnect itself from the notification bus thus not delivering notifications?

After running dmesg I was able to find something like this:

      phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ dmesg | grep ofono
[ 13.626692] capability: warning: `ofonod' uses 32-bit capabilities (legacy support in use)

@suchy I have the same issue on my Redmi Note 9 Pro as well. Before on OTA-23 Libertine was working without problems, then I reinstalled UT and updated to OTA-24 and I wasn't able to create container since. Maybe it has something to do with latest update or I don't know what could be causing this problem.

    • RE: [Newbie] Help removing extra Waydroid icons

@blank Hi, yes you can hide these icons. Did you install Waydroid using Waydroid helper app from OpenStore? If yes, then there is an option Show/Hide apps to remove apps from menu. Just swipe right on the app you want to remove and click on bin icon, then when you drag down in app menu it will refresh itself and the icons should be deleted. If this doesn't work you can delete icons from folder /home/phablet/.local/share/applications, where you will find entries for apps in the app menu. Delete corresponding file from here, but be careful what you delete as here are also system apps entries for the app menu. (Sometimes it is harder to find the right file as they have longer names then it is showing in the app menu)

    • RE: Pin code removal of 4 digits limitation

Option to disable visibility of dots or one big dot looks great, also I would add an option to enable/disable auto unlock (without pressing OK button), I personally prefer when phone unlocks right after entering correct PIN without additional key press, because it seems more intuitive.

@th0mas Take a look at this thread: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/8352/ota-24-upgrade-and-waydroid/14 , near the end is a solution for fixing infinite loading of Waydroid due to wrong Lineage OS version installed into UT. I hope it helps.

@zubozrout Same here, I tried Waydroid on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and is stuck at loading screen as well, though on OTA-23 it was running without problems. Didn't try to launch it from command line, but guess that the outcome of that will be the same as yours.

Update: OTG is working after holding power button until phone reboots(thanks for the tip @nitanmarcel). Keyboard and mouse works without problems, but only FAT32 drives are automatically mounted, exFAT drives need to be mounted via the terminal, but there is no write permissions for them.

    • RE: OTA-24 upgrade and Waydroid

@talkless Yes, you should remove Waydroid before updating to OTA-24, because it can break the update as Waydroid modifies rootfs during instalation (happened to me back when updating to OTA-23 and I forgot to remove Waydroid).
