Well, at least now you know! I marked the topic as SOLVED for you. Sorry about your phone!

      Thanks!

when I open the camera, there is no live image displayed.

Oh dear. No, mine doesn't have that. Could it be hardware?

YES! And it was so easy to diagnose, I should have tried this before starting a thread. I flipped to the front selfie cam and there is an image. The camera itself in this phone is dead. Will have to find a new one.

      stock port

      Sorry, what does this mean?

I have an Xperia X too. It seems that the camera app is not saving its images. Is this what you mean when you say 'Camera has no image'?

I mean when I open the camera, there is no live image displayed. As in the screen is pure black. No read from the camera.

I installed the stock port for this device and am getting no camera. Is there a way to fix this?

And you're smarter in not using them. I've had my accts for years and really should move on myself.

      Hi @777funk
This looks like a double post with the one I just replied.
Please avoid asking the same question multiple times, this will not help in any way.

No problem and I understand. In this post, I was asking if there are any other (not Dekko) push notification options out there since unfortunately it appears Dekko will be a no go with gmail.

@mrt10001 Yup, they're called app passwords and logging in won't work if you use your actual password. They're not really one time passwords but you can't see them again unless app let's you.

I went this route as well and still no luck with Dekko.

On the plus side, does a person really need to be constantly bothered with push notifications? lol.

SSH is the best way for transferring files from/to UT and it's so much more. So if anyone's willing to set it up, I highly suggest it 😄

That's the route I went with it. Works.

    • RE: Screen dimmer (below minimum)?

I should have been a little more clear. Sorry about that! I find that the lowest setting is too bright at times.

In Android there are a few screen dimming apps (display filter) and I find this to be much better.

So what I'm asking, is there a way to go below the minimum "slider" setting? I don't want zero brightness obviously (screen off) but would like the range say between 10% and 60% that's missing to be available. I would call the GUI slider to be between 60-100% of the phone's available brightness. It'd be nice if there were less brightness available.

    • RE: UBPorts Phone for children (restricted use) and parents (as root) - [Parental Control]

This is a great idea. To my thinking, having just this would be enough:

A device with minimal internet apps (simply install a bare minimum) and password protected browser and app store to prevent new internet apps being installed. This would be extremely useful.

I often wish the screen had a dimmer setting. Is this possible?

Dear community, I am using Linphone on Ubuntu touch. It will only call out if i have a contact saved first and it only allows 3 contacts to be saved. I feel like I am missing something huge. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks:)

That's all it has for now. Too bad it wasn't just a little more featured (reading from phone contacts, adding (automatically) the @<voip.server info> after a phone number is entered. Also, I do not get incoming rings.

But it is a start I suppose! We do have to thank those who invested their time in the project so far.

(EDIT: was a problem with a Voip.ms setting. Now rings if phone is open, but not on sleep.)

Update. UT Tweak Tool can set Linphone to stay awake. This rings on sleep or even bootup.

    • Email with Push Notifications in UT?

I am having some trouble with Dekko and Gmail cooperating (probably google being the uncooperative one).

Is there an easy way to receive gmail notifications real time (or at least check every 5 minutes) with vibrate and sound?

I tried to setup Dekko 2 today. I ran it through the automatic settings (for gmail) and it just hangs at the credentials. Is there anything I can do?

No that's not a bug, you can't access other folder than those you see from your computer.
Only by SSH if i remember correctly you can access other files.

That's what I ended up doing. SSH worked to transfer the text file. Easy enough.

      Thanks.

    • choosing a program to open files? ala, right click "open with"??

Then shows a list of ALL installed programs (or at the least appropriate programs). Is there such functionality?

Related, is there a text editor like Mousepad or Gedit?

This is how I accessed my N5. I assume whatever phone you use is similar.

Connect the phone to the computer with an appropriate cable, then open the phone File Manager and unlock it with your password. The contents should then be visible on the computer.

Thanks! I also have a Nexus 5. When I unlock, I can see all the system data in the phone's File Manager but not on the PC (just the normally shown document folder).

Could be a bug with my file manager on the computer.
