RE: Gah, your tab just crashed (Firefox)
@CoffeeFreak Same problem on BQ Aquaris M10 HD running Xenial. Firefox has installed well, scrolling is OK, all looks fine but tabs crash constantly. My network connection isn't the greatest, to be fair

RE: OnePlus 6T repeatedly restarting
@MrT10001 Thank you so much. It is quite hot when it restarts: what do you mean by “internal clean up”?

OnePlus 6T repeatedly restarting
For some mysterious reason, my OnePlus 6T has recently started randomly rebooting many times per day, sometimes several times in an hour, when I'm not even using the phone. Does anybody know why, or what the fix could be?

Version 17 doesn't install
(Cross-posted from OTA-6 because this issue may be specific to OP6T (?))
I have Focal 20.04 OTA-6 installed on a OnePlus 6T a few weeks ago. Now in the Updates list there is a notification that Ubuntu touch Version 17 is downloaded and ready to install.
But the Install button is not working, because the Restart & Install process (specifically, the software restart) does not generally work on OP 6T.
Anyone know a workaround? Will OTA-7 fix this bug?

RE: Focal 20.04 OTA-6 Released
@Keneda Thank you so much. I did that, and it worked. It took a bit of work to figure out how to get into Fastboot mode, but having done that, the UBports installer did its work wonderfully!

RE: Focal 20.04 OTA-6 Released
@UBportsNews
I upgraded my OnePlus 6T to OTA-6 and the install seemed to be going OK but after rebooting it doesn't get past the bootloader screen. Just frozen there. Not totally bricked, but basically now a non-working phone.I logged a bug report on the GitLab account as well, but as I'm not a dev I'm not familiar with the workflow over there and there's nothing more I can do myself to fix it, unless anyone out here has any smart ideas?

RE: Pro1 X keyboard backlight
@arubislander Excellent news, not least because the script I linked to earlier doesn't work as is, and will need further work

RE: Pro1 X keyboard backlight
@ancientsounds
An old post by Zahks on the fxtec community site gives a link to a code fix for the keyboard backlight issue."Keyboard Backlight ️ - I have resolved this one. Here is my python script and a installer so you can fix it yourself. It also auto-hides the on screen keyboard when it is pulled out. Just download, unzip and run InstallSliderDaemon.sh . Current script is as stable as it gets. Please download and let me know if you have any bugs."

RE: Pro1 X keyboard backlight
@kanguru007
Partial answer to this at
https://community.fxtec.com/topic/3684-ubuntu-touch-physical-keyboard-backlight-pro1x/To set permissions:
sudo chmod 666 /sys/class/leds/:kbd_backlight/brightnessTo turn on backlight:
echo "1" > /sys/class/leds/:kbd_backlight/brightnessTo turn off backlight:
echo "0" > /sys/class/leds/:kbd_backlight/brightnessI wrote those into 2 one-line scripts called klon and kloff, for brevity.
If you don't turn it off manually, the backlight stays on even when you close the keyboard

RE: Create subforum for f(x)tec Pro¹ and Pro¹-X
@Lakotaubp
I got a Pro¹-X yesterday and can report that installing UT using the UBports installer went very well, very smoothly. The build seems excellent, better than on the OnePlus 6T, which has a few glitches. Only glitch I've discovered so far is that flashlight doesn't turn on from the Battery icon switch. A sub-forum for this device would be helpful. Shipping was delayed for a long time but the company has a push to fulfil orders lately. -
RE: how easy it is to switch from ububtu touch to lineage or vice versa?
@imre said in how easy it is to switch from ububtu touch to lineage or vice versa?:
Hello, as per topic, I want to buy a phone for experimenting purposes, I'm going to buy a device supported by both ubuntu touch and lineage, I might use it as my primary device later, with whichever OS I like the most, so I was wondering how easy it is to switch between these two?
I suppose they can't be installed concurrently, there's no "dual boot", so I suppose I'll need to reinstall/overwrite the OS.
how easy it is? Is there a guide? Any advice you can give? Thank you in advance.
Imre
Waydroid gives you Lineage running in a virtual machine inside Ubuntu Touch. There is a Waydroid Helper app in the Open Store. So not dual boot, but you can launch Lineage from inside UTouch and therefore have both OS's on one device. The only downside I have found is that when Waydroid (Lineage) is running, it's greedy on the battery, so it's advisable to stop Waydroid when you're not using it

RE: tedit development and design discussion
@danfro That makes sense, I get it
Thanks for the app! -
RE: tedit development and design discussion
Hi @danfro , tedit is great as a general purpose text file editor, not just for notes. Because of that, it would be great to have an "Open File" option in the menu, that allows you to browse to any folder on the system, not just notes that have been created and saved from within tedit.
Thank you for any action on this!

RE: FP4 - Ear phones not working, GPS not working
@Vulpex As the author of that post, I'll be interested to hear whether it helps with audio via USB-C on FP. I've been trying all kinds of things to get audio to switch to USB-C on plugin on my OnePlus 6T, but without success so far
It's noteworthy that this issue (or two very similar issues) occurs on two different devices -

RE: Call for testing: Ubuntu Touch Focal OTA-4
@arubislander Ah, I see. In that case, I can report that switching back to English from French did not give rise to that problem on the OP6T
