    • One Plus One has not been working correctly since last several updates.

      Hello all,
      I have been using OPO One with UT for one year now. I have recently started experiencing to problems.
      The first problem is that the contact search does not work. Whether I search for contacts through the phone app or through the contacts app, neither works. For me historically, this has always been buggy. I would get around the bugs for the contact search by typing in the contact name and then back spacing a few characters. Now, not even this works. No search results pull up when I search for a name in my contacts.
      The second problem is I am no longer able to update UT. When I try to install update 94, I click install and reboot. After I do this, nothing happens. The new UT updates is not installed, and the phone does not reboot.

    • Oneplus One No Cellular Network

      Hello,
      Today I installed UT on a opo1 for a friend. Install went fine, but after inserting the sim card there is no cellular network connection. The phone automatically recognized Verizon under the APN tab, and automatically used the correct Verizon APN setting.
      Under the carrier tab it says none. When I tap on the carrier tab that say none, I am given a choice between "Automatically" and "Extended Network".

      How do I get the cell service to work?

      If I buy a pinephone that comes with the manjaro distro, will I be able to put Ubuntu Touch on it with out any problems? Also, how polished/buggy is UT on a pinephone compared to a opo1?

      Hi im curious how many of you are using ubports as your main OS. I'm thinking about fully switching over, I currently have a nexus 5 with ubports. Anyone else use it as a main OS, and which phone?

      I have been using opo 1 as my daily driver since Feb 2020.There are some bugs to get used to, but using Ubuntu Touch instead of android or ios has definitely been worth it.

      @Keneda Under stable, you can only copy blocks of text.
      Under RC and Devel, you can now define exactly the portion of text you want to copy.

      Yes. This is a very useful improvement.

      @Nathan123
      That is interesting. I usually only have wifi problems with my opo one when reconfiguiring the wifi hotspot name and password. Are you using the hotspot at all?

      I can pick up a 5g conection 50 feet from the router through walls, and I can probably do 75 to 100 feet through walls on a 2.4 g conection.

      If you get super close to the router does it work better?

    • RE: Oneplus One is Stuck in boot up (Solved)

      @Lakotaubp Okay I'm on Ubuntu Mate on a 64 bit machine on live boot .

      I ran

      sudo apt update
      sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot
      sudo snap install ubports-installer

      I started ub ports installer and plugged in phone.
      Then I booted the phone to recovery mode by holding down power button and bottom volume button.
      Next I ran

      adb devices

      Next I chose to select device manually, followed the steps on the installer and let it do its thing. 10 to 15 mins later, the phone rebooted completely with all data still intact.

      I highly recommend using Ubuntu Mate Liveboot for installations of Ubuntu Touch. It is the only time the installer has worked flawlessly. I also tried several other distros in live boot including regular Ubuntu 18 lts and 20 lts. They did not work when I ran

      sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot

      because it said the packages couldn't be found.

      Ubuntu 18 lts Mate get 10 out of 10 stars in my book as the best installation distro period.

      I never could get it to work on my existing machine with mint. I had to use my brother's computer running pop OS. I tried three different mint machines and it failed every time.

      Okay I tried the full charge and boot to no avail. I managed to dig up a 32 bit machine from the bronze age and put ubuntu mate bionic beaver on it. I will try to re do installer with snap installation from this machine.

      Does anyone know if usb 2.0 is a requirement?

      @Lakotaubp

      Is there anything else I can try before I resort to this? I went through hell and back last time I installed it. I lost many blood sweat and tears. I am running linux mint, but I found out I had to use the snap installation version of the installer instead of the debian package, but linux mint has now disabled snap for some reason, so I will have to find a spare machine that I can throw a different distro on to get the snap installation on the computer. Even linux mint 19 did not work with snap well.

      Now long did you wait ?
      Maybe not enough. Hard reset means like first boot. On a N5 i have installed ubp on it took like 20 mn first boot.

      By hard reboot, I mean I turned the phone off by holding down the power button until it shut off, not by telling it to "shutdown", or "reboot".

    • Oneplus One is Stuck in boot up (Solved)

      Hello,
      Today I tried to do a hard reboot of my phone. When I turned it back on it gets stuck booting up on the screen that say ubuntu touch with the five blinking dots. I have tried to restart it several times but it always gets stuck. I am able to get to the recovery screen by pressing the power button and the volume down button. I tried rebooting several times from the recovery screen, but still no luck.

      Do you guys have any suggestions? I am starting to get kind of worried. I have a few documents and contacts on the phone that I haven't backed up yet and it will be very bad for me if I lose them.

      I don't know what image part I am right now because I can't turn the phone on and look. I knopw my update channel is on release candidate.

    • RE: GPS situation

      @Keneda
      I do it outside because I want my phone to get line of site radio communication with the satellites.

      Fun Fact: you can contact astronauts on the ISS with 3 watts of rms power on a handheld when they are over head. :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

      Also, if you want to talk me with audio, I have been known to monitor 27.32500 megahertz on double side band amplitude modulation from time to time. I may or may not be able to get out with 500 watts. Heck of a time when the sunspots are in line.

      Sorry, its Friday and I'm on a rabbit trail.

      @Emphrath said in GPS situation:

      Be patient. For me, first fix after a reboot sometimes take one solid hour. After that it's fine. Actually what I do is everytime the phone reboots for some reason, I first search my location in Pure maps and wait for the fix, so that when I really need navigation it starts fast

      There was no reboot between it working and not working, and I never turned off location services. This is why I am quite perplexed.

      I will keep playing around with it and see if I can figure something out. If I do, I will report back. All of your suggestions are very welcome. Thank your help.

      @Edward-Wilhelm Have you created an account and added the app key for that provider in Pure map settings. Try uNav for first location.

      No. I will look into this. Thanks.

      Also,
      What is an "OP"?

      I do not understand this abbreviation used in your sentence that follows.

      "As suggested to the OP, instead of re-opening an old thread it's best to create one for your issue."
