@lakotaubp I did that and I don't have problems authenticating to Google, the problem is searching for contacts within the Contact app, this hasn't worked for me since long ago. Sometimes it works once after logging out and in again from the Google contacts account, but it stops working immediately and the search of contacts does not work any more. This has happened to me since long ago, and also in my previous daily driver which was a Nexus 5. I suspect that it is related to copying the home folder over from device to device, I think I've done this in all my installations.

Now my OPO has also given up, the sim slot is damaged, so I will have to move to a new device as daily driver.

I dont think that Oneplus One is WCDMA-capable. Isnt that a pre-requisite for Verizon? Next problem, isn´t Verizon only allowing whitelisted phones to join their network? You need to rule out both of those things first.

@AppLee Sorry, but for quite some time I am no longer able to get a working system with ubports on sd card.
Many other distros do correctly boot, but not ubports!

@Lakotaubp Okay I'm on Ubuntu Mate on a 64 bit machine on live boot .

I ran

sudo apt update sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot sudo snap install ubports-installer

I started ub ports installer and plugged in phone.
Then I booted the phone to recovery mode by holding down power button and bottom volume button.
Next I ran

adb devices

Next I chose to select device manually, followed the steps on the installer and let it do its thing. 10 to 15 mins later, the phone rebooted completely with all data still intact.

I highly recommend using Ubuntu Mate Liveboot for installations of Ubuntu Touch. It is the only time the installer has worked flawlessly. I also tried several other distros in live boot including regular Ubuntu 18 lts and 20 lts. They did not work when I ran

sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot

because it said the packages couldn't be found.

Ubuntu 18 lts Mate get 10 out of 10 stars in my book as the best installation distro period.

My carrier too, anyway, SMS/MMS messaging works for me.
And if SMS/MMS works for you, but not grouped ones, then it's not an APN issue so keep the default created/activated APN on.

I think you have an messaging-app issue and you're not alone having it.

About how long, it really depends on the time you can spare, your motivation and what you already know.

About the helpfulness, it depends ton your goal ; if it's about being helpful to the community it can be fast, if it's about being helpful as a porter or a developer then it can take months...

Microsoft contributes directly to many open source projects, including the Linux kernel.

Wireless display is done via Miracast protocol, so you are welcome to try a different adapter and make pull requests to fix any issues that may come up with them, but the Microsoft adapter is one of the best.

@flohack I tried my Logitech keyboard and mouse on my Nexus 5. It wasn't perfect as they had trouble reconnecting for a bit but they seem to work properly now. Reconnecting works which worked before as well but for example a mouse, it won't actually move the mouse.

I can support this. I am running on the OPO and it runs phenomenally (phenomenal?). I dont have OP3 so I cant say for sure on that.
