@ixsvf
Thank you for the answer. I saw that there something is going on at OP6 "no sound in calls".
Is there a link to some guide to flash images?

RE: Is there support for OP6?
Giving the information we have. Could one experienced member give me recommendation on if I should go further and try to solve the issues (like LED, ...) or just stop from here? I am not an experienced porter myself.
What I still have is :
- some action going on for OP6 in sound problem. seems like someone is actually doing something. I might get contact to him
- one of the 3 porters gave me a link to discord server where I could ask questions to OP6, he mentioned.
If the answer is to stop from here and issues on the OP6 are "solved" by recommending different device (please read without any irony), I guess the OP6 can be marked as end of life or we could mention in the devices page that the device (currently) has no porters/developers available?

RE: Notification LED
@Lakotaubp
Thank you very much for the explanation. I was actually not aware of that "strict" porters idea, thought that maybe 10-20 volunteers are porting a device somehow together part by part and that i might could have taken a small part like the LED.Please remember that except for a very few everyone here is giving their time for free.
Totally clear, I also spend hours of testing and re-flashing (not comparable to the porters I guess). But I didn't really came further in terms of notification LED.
Notch support is being worked on and there is a basic work around linked to on the forum (use the search function to find it)
the OP6 is from 2018, which means the notch support could have come during the last 4-5 years. Not being there. I am doubting that there will be something coming soon AND it needs device specific work, which is , as we see, hard at this time.
I am coming from a company where I work in high class customer support. Main goal is always to give reliable information/timeline to our customers very fast. Maybe i am a little too pushy on free/open source project with my expectations. I am learning

RE: Is there support for OP6?
Thanks for your suggestions!
In general i was looking into the device page for OP6. checking the features, I felt OK with it. BUT it was not correct information, especially for 20.04 (explained above). So i was wondering if either it can be fixed or not. Just wanted to get answer to if its possible.
Looking at devices pages for OP6
and OP5T I couldnt see differences. Only torchlight vs fingerprintTo be honest, i am a little disappointed not because of the lacking support of OP6 (which is ok for whatever reason) but because the information I gathered upfront was not correct. I would be thankful if devices page for OP6 20.04 would hold this information.

RE: Is there support for OP6?
@rocket2nfinity
totally understandable. Thats why i am asking if there is support availble. Even if someone stops supporting device without any reason. I am totally fine. -
Is there support for OP6?
Is there still support/development for OP6? If not, I personally will not go for this device right now and either choose different phone or different OS.
Explanation on my question:
After struggling into specific issues (20.04) like- calls not working
- camera crashing frequently
- time restore on reboot (including issue on browser)
- notification LED not working
- notch hiding notifier
without a solution yet, I would like to clarify one level "above" and see if there is still action on this phone.

RE: Notification LED
@Lakotaubp
One developer told me he is not using OP6 anymore. and the porter SEVRALT wrote me the following statement on telegram:
Which sounds to me pretty much as a "no".Are the porters - let's say - responsible for their device? I thought there is a bigger community than 1 person per device. Maybe I don't understand the structure very well.

RE: Notification LED
Until we know for certain that the indicator can be made to work there is little point in amending the device page.
I dont really get the point. The Notification LED on the OP6 is physically available and works on Android. On OP6 device page it says
" The device hardware does not support these features, if you need them, please consider a different device. "
Which does not fit to the notification LED. It is supported by the device hardware. But, it is not implemented. If it will be implemented we dont know yet (like for fingerprint). In my opinion, the notification definitely fits to the category "not working" but i don't want to push to hard on that.Unless the info you found specifically states will work on Ubuntu Touch 20.04 on the OP6 that info is of little direct use to UT
It doesn't. I just proofed that the notification LED is available (by hardware) on the OP6 and i am asking if it will be possible to implement it. (which i am doubt, to be honest).
here must be a good reason why under UT it does not work on the OP6 as it works on other devices running UT 20.04
My understanding is that the notification LED support is implemented in UT System. But the "low level" or "driver" level of it, isnt it device specific (like talking to network, gps, camera modules)? I understand that LED is generally working in UT , so if not on OP6, there should be a porting issue. No?

RE: Notification LED
@Lakotaubp Let me clarify here shortly:
- i asked if Notification LED can be implemented
- Keneda answering that from device page notification LED not existing
- i claim that it exists because i found info on internet
- keneda ask me to check if it really exists. I checked, it exists.
I did not mention that it should run out of box, this is why i am asking if we can implement it.
ToDo:
- contact the porters for support (Hugehead)
- correcting device page information, because clearly the notification LED is not "not existent" but "not implemented" . (Who can do that?)
-
RE: Notification LED
@Lakotaubp I tested today in Android mode. Notifications are also using the LED. E.g. downloading an update or messages will light up in green. i can also set colors in settings.
-
RE: Notification LED
@Keneda I saw the contacts there but i was not sure if i could ping them directly as in the telegram group it was mentioned "not to ping people directly unless they are supporting you". i will go that path.
Thank you so far for your support already.

RE: Mic not working while calling
I also experienced this issue, which makes the 20.04 unusable for me. Doing calls with the Phone is fundamental.
Thanks @ixsvf for the link, there is actually some recent action.
-
RE: Notification LED
@Keneda Thank you for the positive answer. There is no need to go for Android. Even in UT, when phone is charged, the LED is ON.
I am not sure, what to do wiuth this information. Where can we go to get the LED support implemented?

RE: Notch Support
@kristatos Still, my question is:
will there be a Solution coming to UT. Not a workaround, patch or dirty solution but a real solution that does not need the user to hack around
-
RE: Notch Support
Thank you all for the very helpful workarounds. I put the notifier on "22" and can see it now. I have installed the patch but that did not bring the notifier to correct position BUT corrected the clock and other views.
-
RE: Notch Support
@Bolly Thanks, let me give it a try to move the Notifier, great idea! The patch itself didn't help much, it rounded corners but the notifier was still hidden. In focal it was not possible to install due to "no space left" when apt update ran.
-
RE: Notch Support
@Bolly First question: Does it matter? I hoped there would be a system wide implementation to solve it.
I have OP 6 focal but reverted to xenial because it was not working well (camera crashed, time resets, ...)
-
RE: Notification LED
From what i can find on the web the situation is as follows:
OP 6: Notification LED available
https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/8ljfbv/does_the_oneplus_6_have_a_notification_led/?rdt=46372
OP 6T: Notification LED NOT available
https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/9selal/apparently_the_op6t_does_not_have_a_led/
It seems they removed due to notch shrinking and true AMOLED (always on display) allows to have notification led on screen level.If on OP6 is a notification LED physically available, would it be possible to implement it? I am open to contribute.
-
RE: Notch Support
@Ian Well, this is indeed just a workaround and not the answer to my question either. The idea behind notification indicator or notification led is to make is faster/simpler for user to see if new messages arrived. I could also just check the messengers myself one by one.
So some workaround adding additional steps to check for new messages does not really fit to the idea of the notifiers that should simplify the process. -
RE: Notch Support
this https://gitlab.com/ubports/development/core/packaging/ayatana-indicators/ayatana-indicator-display/-/issues/2 is in OTA as unassigned issue. What does it mean? Is there some work going on? Also in my opinion, it is quite bad if i cannot see if i got new messages. Especially with the notch issue AND notfication led not working. It is a mess to see if i have messages
