I know this may sound a little weird, but today I flashed UT on my Mi A2 at the first try. Succesfully.
The only thing I did before was unlocking the device with fastboot oem unlock (and then follow the instructions on the device) and download the vendor image as the installer (0.8.8-beta, app-image) was suggesting. I had to give the path to vendor.img and that was it. I did not flash twpr, I did not downgrade to android 9, the installation went through without any issue and everything is working fine as far as I can see... Only the video capuring broke afte taking one single good video... hm . I'm on stable channel now.
thanks to everybody at ubports and the porters and everyone here in this great forum, hope this report is encouraging.

RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 110 Saturday 9th October At 19:00 UTC
@unisuperbox Thank you to the entire team for all you do for this great project - thank you!
While watching you at the show, I could literally feel the burden you carry. I've felt that way before, but this time it was really clear to see and yes, to hear from you as well.
We normal users are greedy little animals, like children who always want more because it is so great what we are offered here, that's true.
But if we are reminded of that - and you rightly do from time to time - then we are also empathetic adults who know about the burden of your responsibility.
I want you to know that I am well aware of the weight of your responsibilities.
I probably feel as helpless as you do, because I can't do anything except a little communication and testing and some modest donations. But of course I know the situation, where everything becomes too much from my professional contexts as well. I think if you allow yourself that, the joy might come back. I hope it very much for you - and for all of us here. Good luck! -

@ubportsnews Would You be so kind and explain a little the affection of Daltons departure on the current projects and developments? I am not shure that I have understood enough of the structure of the different teams and so on... So it feels like an earthquake - is it one?

RE: Known Issues
@messayisto I am totally ashamed to admit, that it was only a wrong password. I had to look inside my router to get that. So sorry ...

To repent, I will immediately donate something
Congratulations anyway to this great port, the OPO 5 is now my daily driver. And again thanks for your work.

Withdraw or lock version 0.9.1
Wouldn´t it be a good idea to withdraw or lock the latest version of the ubports-installer due to all the issues reported all over the different sections of the forum? just a question... I´ve been reading such a lot of problems and answers advicing to take an older version. So I find it easier to withdraw the actual version so taht not so many people running in trouble with it.

RE: Mobile stuck at penguin boot image
@nauvpp Hi!
as keneda wrote in your other post it is not good to lock the device again. Have a look here:

Porting "Heebo" to Ubuntutouch
This is kind of a pull request, or a suggestion, no: a deep wish of mine! :baby_angel:
In the legendary times of the N9 there was a game called "Heebo" by developper Mats Sjöberg. It was later ported by some people to Sailfish Os, because its totally open source. I love this game, you can download it here:
https://openrepos.net/content/hooddy/heebo
I wrote a mail to Mr. Sjöberg, and he answered that it shouldn't be too hard to port his game to Ubuntutouch. Unfortunately he doesn't own an Ubuntu Touch device, and without that it seems to be impossible to do any conversion.
He further writes: "The software and graphics are all open source, so if you know of someone who does know how to develop for Ubuntu Touch, I would naturally have no objections to anyone else porting it, and I would be glad to help in any way I can. In fact, the Sailfish and Android ports have been done by other people. I only created the original N9 (MeeGo) and Symbian versions."
So my question is: Is somebody here, who could port it? Unfortunately I'm not a developper at all, so I cannot do it, but if I could help, I would!
Thank You for listening. -
Installation Experience UT on VollaOs 15
I bought a used Quintus with VollaOS 15 on it. The multiboot function didn't work. So I installed Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1.0 stable on it using the UBPorts installer. A very nice person on https://t.me/hello_volla explained to me that it wasn't necessary to downgrade. That seems important to me.
The installer even took care of unlocking the bootloader. The entire installation went smoothly. Great!
Almost everything works, even Dekko2, notifications, word completion, camera including video recording. I have 5G and I think even Volte (how can I check that exactly?).
Unlike what is stated here: https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/algiz/, I can't get the headphones to work via the USB output, but that doesn't bother me. Fingerprint does not work too, but thats a known issue and doesn't bother me either.
One small bug: In the launcher, the Dekko2 icon doesn't stop counting; only restarting Lomiri resets the number.
Overall, I'm totally amazed! There's also a Telegram channel for UT: https://t.m/utonvolla. Unfortunately, I don't know the Matrix chat (anyone?).
So this is my new daily driver and I will report issues from time to time. Thanks to all the Volla and UT devs for their amazing work on this port. -
RE: Email links not working.
@dunbrokin You sometimes have to tab and hold a link to get the confirm dialogue.

RE: Installation Experience
There is an unofficial unlock-Tool:
https://xiaomitool.com/V2/
which worked for me on linux.I also had to do the Ubuntuflashing using the UbportsInstaller twice... but now its kind of great!

RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 129 call for questions
@UBportsNews I heard several times in the forum that it can help to make a clean focal OTA3 install (including ticked wipe box) for fixing artefacts and remaining faults of Xenial,.
My first question: Is this true?
Second question: While adb is no longer working on newer halium versions, is there a convenient way to back up your data and configurations before doing a clean install? -
RE: Volla Phone Quintus
@Keneda For the Volla Phone Quintus, we have shortened the supply chain in line with our long-term strategy. The device is manufactured by a company that does not produce smartphones under its own brand. The Volla Phine Quintu is a Volla Phone Quintus, manufactured for the Volla brand. There is no similar model in Europe.
There are also persistent rumours that we have sold smartphones from Gigaset. That is not correct. We commissioned Gigaset with the production of Volla phones. We took models from the starting point and modified them according to our specifications. Components were specially manufactured exclusively for Volla. The development of a smartphone is a long process and the product is very complex, more complex than a PC.
Volla Systeme is a manufacturer of smartphones. We work with our partners with engineering and manufacturing resources on the specification and design of the hardware and develop the software with our own international team. There is a supply chain for both, starting with the chipset manufacturer, followed by the board designer and finally the manufacturer. We carry out the final production steps in Remscheid, where we have started to set up production capacities. We will expand this.

RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 174 call for questions
@Keneda I dont think this is a porting question. For me its more about the cooperation between a company and the ubports foundation.

-
RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 176 call for questions.
@UBportsNews I get the impression that some new people have joined the community recently, mostly as a result of Android's stricter bootloader rules.
Have you noticed this, and how are you dealing with it? Are there new and more developers in the project? -
