@mango Divide into groups based on needs is a good idea. Assign a rank # to all you mentioned. My version of list starts with: Group 1: need voice calls - with VoLTE (required in some countries now, and many more in future). USABLE on 4 or 5 phones as of today ? Have not tried it enough to say 'mainstream ready' or not. Group 1a: Voice calls over Wifi (Rural areas, etc). Hope you don't need it. NOT supported by UT. Group 1b: VOIP to PSTN. Please tell me how to set this up (see 1a, above) other groups ? Your list... BTW: Libre office snap installs directly - no need for Libertine. Use wireless external display direct to TV (IF TV supports Miracast. Many LG TV's do). Limit 1080P, even on a 4K TV, due to Wifi speeds, or something. Wired external display would be nicer, but it seems NOT many older phones that UT currently runs on support it. (if Oneplus 8 gets UT port, I think it supports wired ext display). Wired keyboard & mouse through USB-C expansion adapter with PD charging (Acasis $10) operational.

@Arnoldko About your question: UBports is a German foundation. And when I search for "public transport" at open-store.io (app store for Ubuntu Touch (UT)) I see four German, two Spanish, one Norwegian, one American, one Hungarian and one Swiss app(s). So you have maybe slightly more people who know some things about UT in this countries, but I do not think that this is significant. It probably depends more on what you want to do and how you want to structure your company (How closely do HW and SW teams need to work together? Where is the head of your company? Is this a commercial project?...). If your hardware team also takes care of firmware and drivers and you are only searching for some people who write some apps for you, you should find people who can do some C++, Qt and server stuff nearly everywhere. Specifically for Ubuntu Touch, you could maybe post a job description in this forum and let the people work from home. Some time ago some people related to Volla did a fundraiser to bring Android apps to UT. They commissioned some Russian developer and it was very successful. So maybe this could also be an option for you: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5907/open-ubuntu-touch-to-all-android-applications/ https://forums.ubports.com/user/stanwood https://www.gofundme.com/f/anbox-on-ut?utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer&utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet About no phone numbers: A lot of messengers and other services depend on verification via SMS. This is maybe something you want to consider. About using UT as a base: Please be aware that Ubuntu Touch has some limitations and depending on what you want to do (how much you want to modify the system), it could maybe be more convenient to start with something else (like Debian). There are currently also some people working on Lomiri (the desktop environment of Ubuntu Touch) for Debian. But this very much depends on what you want to do.

This would reduce electronic waste, especially in developing countries. A simple app image that runs without installation would suffice. Whether you still have very old Pentium 1-4 systems is questionable. I also think this is a good idea. However, I also understand the objection that there is a lack of people.

@jb-gbaeza Have you already come across the main UBports site? There is a link to the manifesto there.

@jb-gbaeza Because users don't come to UT escaping from Google / Apple to be forced using a meta/Facebook tool.

@jb-gbaeza I recommend you to read https://docs.ubports.com/porting, so that you will know what is required for a phone to be ported to Ubuntu Touch.

@Kaizen said in Marketers/PR/Media people wake up! This is your time to shine!: @3T_Ed You absolutely right, I'm trying to figure out ways to improve collaborations with others rather then new users, BUT also to open a door for new marketers who want advice or generate new content/strategy, not sure how approach those either. Please, share your thoughts I'm all ear Thast sound incredible. I like very much thats idea. We Would use podcast of Google and make some versión In spanish for Infocus a target of latinos In América. I think some people like do New life to her smartphones or tablets oldies.

@arubislander the community is going to be weirded out when i upload my voice controlled AI to open store ....i switched linux distros again and im getting all kinds of weird errors with clickable ill need to sort out first .....but yeah totally voice operated and i was going for a jarvis type of feel and the ability to control EVERYTHING with voice .....now im sure a few things wont work as a clickable app do to system level operation ...but on my pi i can be like "computer ~create a shell script and set the file permissions to writable and executable" and it will do it ....unfortunately its still stuck using openai api do to the monstrous hardware requirements needed to run a large LLM ....im kinda proud of my work actually currently im trying to deving code to give it preference and a moral compass and the ability to pontificate ....(my work is to ensure AI does not turn into skynet lol)

@arubislander Wherever there is privacy, security has been implemented. I think Privacy is a subordinate element and a byproduct of Security. It's hard for me to understand some of your last explanation. Nevertheless, I have no hard thoughts, so let's just leave it at that.
