OK guys, thanks for your suggestions. Finally I got Ubuntu Touch installed! Unfortunately I'm not able to say what especially was the case. What I did: On my Linux Mint computer I removed everything regarding UBPorts installer. On the deice I've additionally removed developper option "check for apps installed via USB for harming behave". Then I installed UBPorts installer again (0.8.8) and started flashing again. After flashing I've had the same effect "Searching for device", but I saw for a short moment "Ubuntu" on the device screen.... So I unplugged the device abut it stuck on the screen "Redmi by Xiaomi unlocked" - so far the same as before. Now I've made a manual reboot on the Redmi, and surprise, after the screen above, "Ubuntu" appeared and started..... What's not nice: The device starts now with "Redmi by Xiaomi unlocked" (ca 5 sec.) before ubuntu system starts. Seems to me, that UBPorts installer just was not able to send reboot command to the device. After two days with Ubuntu Touch, I'm very satisfied. Got all what I've expected. UBUNTU TOUCH ROCKS!

My installation failed too. (i have Android 9 installed) enabled developer mode enabled USB debugging connected to PC rebooted to FASTBOOT screen started UBports (in Ubuntu linux) And this error message occured: Error: fastboot:format: Error: formatting failed: Error: {"error":{"code":1,"cmd":"fastboot format system"},"stderr":"FAILED (Status read failed (No such device))\nfastboot: error: Command failed"} What happened here?

@jakub Both slots work equally, calls and messages, but data to connect to the internet is done by one SIM, you can choose which one from the settings.

@skajmer Indeed, battery is charging normally, but there's no indicator on the screen yet. Don't know who (and if someone) works now on this port, but you can see what's working / not working here: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6026/redmi-note-7-state-of-play

@arnd Sorry, I forgot to mention, I installed it from a Windows 10 machine (all updated) and plugged into a USB 3.0 port. I tend to avoid USB 3 to do things like this and avoid using pc case front USB ports (USB 3), in this case it worked using rear a USB 3 port (a lot of newer motherboards seem to be USB 3 only). I have used my trusty Ubuntu machine for certain phones, and some phones work fine on windows, but the same model of phone won't.
