RE: Volla tablet arrives in April
@kugiigi Although the device itself has not support for a wired external connection, would it be possible to achieve it through a slimport adapter?
Does this adapter provide the required hardware for any device?
I have been searching in the forum and found that the success with a slimport adapter is not a constant. It always depends ... -
RE: Volla tablet arrives in April
@kugiigi Got it! Thank you. It seems a lost battle though.
On the one hand, if the wireless mirroring is so disappointing I guess, and I understand, the developers will focus their efforts on more useful issues.
On the other hand, if wired mirroring depends on hardware, there is nothing to do, since it seems that the new promoted devices (except FP4) are not prepared for such feature.
I really miss convergence for a tablet. The only ones that have a wired mirroring feature are the old BQ Aquaris M10. I own a BQ E4.5 and Morph crashes a lot (although I will keep using it until its pieces fall apart). I suppose it is due to its low RAM, but I do not think a second hand BQ M10 will do better now. My presentations rely on HTML+CSS+JS so I would create a webapp with Weber, pointing to my presentations.

RE: Volla tablet arrives in April
@domubpkm, on Jan 24th Volla wrote:

- The support of VoLTE"
With the answer @DenMoore got, I wonder if you have to buy a tablet with Volla OS and then instal Ubuntu on it by yourself (via system update). In their shop you choose the OS but it seems that they will send you the same.
I would appreciate more transparency. This community will not be blinded by marketing but by specs and freedom. I do not mind delays and I prefer real facts.
@kugiigi, I pretend to project interactive presentations, in which I will draw and I will manipulate 3D models. A noticeable lagging is undesirable.
I mentioned wireless connection because the Lenovo Tab M10 HD 2nd Gen Wifi 4G/64GB has that feature. I prefer being free of wires, but if the connection has a noticeable lag, I would not mind a wired connection. However, as I see in the devices page, among all the phones only Fairphone 4 has that feature.
Will it be one or another (wireless or wired) be extended to the other devices? -
RE: Volla tablet arrives in April
Hi,
According to Volla, they already are shipping the Volla tablet.
I am interested in the "Wireless External Monitor" feature. Currently it is not working on their phones. The tablet does not have its page in ubports website, so I asked Volla and their answered saying that the devs were working on it.
Does anyone know (@TheKit @deathmist ) if this feature is in a "priority" list or it is considered secondary/difficult to address now?
Does anyone already receive it? Please, share your opinions. Thank you. -
RE: External projector
Thanks @arubislander,
I can see that Wired External Monitor is not supported, but Wireless External Monitor is.
Assuming that the projector also has that feature, I suppose you connect directly to the projector via WI-FI? In that case, can you also surf the web while projecting or your connectivity to the www is unavailable? -
External projector
Can this device connect to an external projector via the usb-C port?

RE: Change storage location for osm-scout-server not possible
@Charly As Rinigus mentioned in another thread:
"At present, you have to use default location, close the server, move it to the location you want and make symbolic link from the default to the new location."
I have done it and works flawlessly. -
RE: Dekko 2
Dekko2 settings have an option to delete messages older than a given date (one week, one month). Settings --> Accounts --> Manage caché --> "Clear now" button.
Don't know if it really works though.
UTTweakTool shows that I have a caché of 11.25GB!!!, even though my BQ4.5 does not have so much storage.
After clearing messages older than one week following the previous method, UUTT shows a caché of 10.96 GB. Something has been erased, but obviously there is something wrong.
You can clear the caché in UUTT but beware! It also erases the configuration, so you must introduce all the accounts from scratch. I think there alraedy is a bug opened with this issue. -
RE: Clickable and 16.04
@lduboeuf I had a look to your link. I can see the following line:
framework: ubuntu-sdk-16.04.5
However, your CMakeList.txt file shows:
set(CLICK_FRAMEWORK "ubuntu-sdk-20.04")
I guess it does not matter since you can build the app.
I am struggling with this issue. I installed clickable in my desktop machine (20.04) but want to develop the app for my BQ 4.5 (Xenial, 16.04). Although I have manually changed the lines in the apparmor file from 20.04 to 16.04,{ "policy_groups": [], "policy_version": 16.04 }
it still complains when I tried to build the click package:
- security:policy_version_matches_framework:phonehome.apparmor 16.04 != 20.04 (ubuntu-sdk-20.04.1) http://askubuntu.com/q/686347
The provided link does not consider this ubuntu versions, but I guess 16.04 should be valid. I have consistently introduce
set(CLICK_FRAMEWORK "ubuntu-sdk-16.04")
in the json file, but without luck.
I do not know why clickable insists in 20.04, when none file has this version number typed. -
RE: tweaking UT a few ways...
In the OS category there is a topic about background location that may be interesting for your GPS issue.
On the other hand, I think nobody would had though about disabling the volume buttons. You may want to use them for your headphones even with the phone locked. -
RE: Focal/20.04 is out for quite a while now. You still use Xenial/16.04? I would like to know what stops you from upgrading?
I am happily still using a BQ E4.5 so there is no other option.

RE: Call for testing: background location updates
Why have I been downvoted?
I was just reporting an initial weird behaviour, but finally a succesfull performance. -
RE: Call for testing: background location updates
Hi @AmauryDBZ. Sorry, I am not a developer, so I cannot provide any hint. I usually use a trial and error approach. You can try uninstalling the package and reinstalling it again.
Actually for me, the first time it was not properly installed because I lost the wifi connection. I tried again and although I had some doubts (see posts above) it works.
My phone requires some time to connect to the satelites, but once it is done, Activity Tracker followed me. -
RE: Call for testing: background location updates
It works.
I tried it with Activity Tracker and records my position with the phone locked.
During the first try, the location switch turned off automatically whenever I turned it on. But now the switch and me seem to have achieved an understanding.
Thank you very much for such a useful feature. -
RE: Call for testing: background location updates
I think ubuntu-location-service-bin is not properly installed.
Just some questions. I see the following packages upgraded:
biometryd-bin libbiometry1 qml-module-biometryd
Why do we need biometry stuff?
This ones were downgraded:
libubuntu-location-service3 qtubuntu-sensors ubuntu-location-service-bin unity8 unity8-common unity8-private unity8-schemas
@mardy you mentioned Lorimi, but I still see unity. Is it all right? I understood this change was for xenial devices.
I hope I do not miss anything with the downgrade. -
RE: Call for testing: background location updates
Wow! How did I miss this feature? I have seen the last post and realize that it was available two years ago.
Well, BQ E4.5 OTA 25. I have just installed it, but I am not very confident it will work. I get some errors that make me suspect:ubuntu-location-service-bin#####] W: No sandbox user '_apt' on the system, can not drop privileges E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) ERROR:ubports-qa:Failed to run 'apt full-upgrade'. See the output above for details. mount: / is busy WARNING:ubports-qa:Failed to remount root filesystem read-only. WARNING:ubports-qa:Please consider rebooting your device.
I have rebooted the phone. This weelend I will test the background data adquisition.

RE: How can I edit file in /etc folder on UT 20.04 (Focal)?
Does not
sudo nano /etc/deviceinfo/devices/halium.yaml
work?
Or usingchmod
does not help? -
RE: BQ Aquarius M10 FHD that had Ubuntu 16.04 won't boot
@Daryl There was an issue some time ago with OTA-25 and BQ devices. The behaviour was similar to what you described. The solution was to press power button and volume - together for up to 15 seconds. Maybe you have to retry a couple of times.
If that does not help, you can double check the files you used because be aware that there are two BQ Aquarius M10, HD and FHD.
