I see. The idea is to print the manual on a Din-A1 or Din-A0? Color or Black and white? Is there any requirement for the manual of Ubuntu Touch OS?

@dobey Sure, not all devices has a fingerprint sensor. But using a fingerprint sensor in an app would be a benefit for the devices, that have this hardware feature. NFC and Dual SIM are also features, that not all devices have. But the operating system should support it. Anyway, the feature was only requested for Volla devices, which will have a finger print sensor.

Ubuntu Touch is not Android, but it should support requirements of a platform for mobile devices not limited by Smartphones. This includes customization if OEMs. Ubuntu Touch could alternatively use the approach of Jolla for Sailfish OS.

Anyway, this is out of scope of this thread. If someone know, how we could access the fingerprint event, let me know. Because the system needs this event, there must be somewhere on some level an API.

Hi, just re-visiting this, having the existing UT VPN take care of these features would be ace, save having to depend on extra apps.

from a users point of view, having the mobile data reception indicator or wifi indicator in the top bar turn green when connected via VPN successfully would be a nice way to show a secure connection rather than an extra indicator symbol cluttering up the top bar.

@advocatux Thanks. I'm afraid I don't quite understand the idea behind the app. I suspect the intention is to freely select preferred apps and place them on a grid on the so-called desktop.

Interestingly, an alternative selection of apps was simply implemented as an app itself. It would be nice if the default view was adapted to SuruDark.

With the Tweak Tool many interesting variants are already possible. I would still like to be able to hide the permanent display of the device status.

A refined UI could start with the following actions:

Adding another mode to the fan and window mode, that uses tiles. Hiding respectively replacing the starter bar with a different one. Adding another launcher as one or more apps.

I also agree according Android apps. I deon't need them either. I test Anbox for our planned device for a conumer market, because most people of our focus group ask clearly for Android support.

The good thing of Anbox is, that this approach is a sandboxed container with no access to system ressources outside of the container. It's not yet possible to shut down and start Anbox to be sure, that the apps are only running, if I need them, a banking app for example. But I tthink, it could be possible. I tink it would be even possible to add more controll to this Android emulation.

The mouse lag is more of an issue with the wireless display than UT/Unity 8's performance.
I also never got wireless display working on any of my UT devices but in my general experience with miracast (i.e. Android), it's really no ideal if an input device is involved, there's too much latency.

Now I execute the terminal command clickable, but it seems, that docker is required:

Edit: Ok, It seems, that sudo apt-get install docke' is not sufficient. I could resulve the issue with sudo apt-get install docker.io.

The theme switcher is now available in v0.4.8 so no longer need to manually install the .click. Here's hoping that SuruDark gets more love over time.

@marc_aurel I'm not very familiar with it, and haven't used it myself, so unfortunately not. It seems like maybe there is an issue with the version of lxd in use on your system. Probably should ask about that separately.

But as I said, there isn't really much useful in terms of documentation in the unity8 tree. So for what you are looking for, is likely a waste of time to build it. Also, as scopes are going away, I suppose it doesn't make sense to publish the documentation. IIRC, most of the documentation is about widgets provided by Unity which scopes can "use" in their search results and previews.

I'm not sure if clickable will be usable, even if you can get it installed, as I don't think docker will work well on a phone/tablet running UT. But well, if you install pip3 in a container, then at least you should be able to install clickable. Whether it will work or not, is a different matter though.

@ellypsis Thank your for your helpful post. The problem was probably, that didn't add default at the end of the URL, because I expected, that the synchronisation retrieves the available calendars and contacts. I never add the name of the addressbook or calender in system settings of any OS.

I have tested the updated script successfully. But I had to restart the phone and remove the created database and start the script again. For any reasons.
