    • RE: ut-sysbench-qt-gui: Compare CPU performance of different devices

I ran the benchmarks on a Gigaset GS5 Pro with Ubuntu 20.04 OTA-4:

      sysbench --test=cpu --num-threads=2 --cpu-max-prime=20000 run 1650 events per second

      sysbench --test=cpu --num-threads=8 --cpu-max-prime=20000 run 3735 events per second

      sysbench --test=memory --num-threads=4 run Total Operations: 60181714 ( 6017004 per second) 58771.21 MiB transferred

      sysbench --test=mutex --num-threads=64 run total time: 5.0982s

    • RE: OnePlus 6T and speech-to-text

You can run Kaldi-based ASR on UBports. This solution needs no Internet and preserves privacy. I am using this for German and English. But this is not an app, only a tool for converting wav files to text.

    • RE: Which phone ?

@s710 You can compare with Geekbench 5 scores if you keep in mind that all Vollaphones are variants of Gigaset phones. (Yes, Geekbench is Android based, but it should be a good indication for Linux, too.)

The first Vollaphone corresponds to the Gigaset GS290; I see a single-core score of 150 and a multi-core score of 902. The FP4 is much faster: 642 and 1878.

BTW: The Vollaphone 22 corresponds to the Gigaset GS5 and is somewhere in the middle, with scores 352 and 1296.

@melu9wuv Kaldi is a toolkit and far from an easy installation. If more people are interested, I can share a recipe, mabye including ASR models for EN and DE.

    • Screen rotated to landscape: mouse stays in portrait mode

If I rotate the screen to landscape, the mouse (bluetooth) seems to respect the original dimensions, so that the right half of the screen cannot be reached with the mouse. (Current OTA-4, focal, GS5pro)

    • RE: Anyone tried installing another OS on a Ubuntu Touch X23

@treebeard If you want a multiboot device, I know only the Volla boot manager from within Volla OS. So, you must first install Volla OS (which might be illegal - I don't know - and deletes your UT) from UBports installer, and then the other OS with the Volla boot manager to some SD card. You will end up with fresh installations and the whole process does not sound simple.

Volla once offered a reflashing service (for money); if interested, check their web site.

@johndoe said in ut-sysbench-qt-gui: Compare CPU performance of different devices:

if some of you could share your device's name together with a screenshot of the result you get

A save (as plain text) button in the app would be great, so that people can post results for immediate processing via scripts or copy/paste.

Thanks for clarifying and good to hear that it worked. Which file did you use for downgrading to Android 9?

    • Cosmo Communicator: installation without Gemian detour

The installation of UT on a Cosmo Communicator works for me and others after installing Gemian. Has anybody managed to avoid this extra burden? I am willing to try suggestions on another fresh Cosmo Communicator.

(Could somebody create a Planet subcategory and move my post and others there? That would help ...)

Works on Cosmo Communicator, copes with landscape view as well.

Same device, OTA-19: the two lower buttons are not visible for me. How did you manage to see them?

I can add some details. The LED is on and white. The device is getting warm, so in a sense it is hot spot 🙂

    • RE: OTA-19 Call for Testing Companion Post

@flohack I switched from stable to RC and the installed version is reported as 2021-W36 (not 2021-W27, OnePlus 3T). It broke the perfectly working HotSpot :-(, now I need several tries to turn it on.

    • RE: Auto Execute Startup Scripts

You can add upstart scripts in user space. Example: put into .config/upstart/local-init.conf:

      description "run script local-init"
      start on started unity8
      exec /home/phablet/local/bin/local-init

and add your commands into the file given in the exec line.

@Ken1971 If you change the channel (under Update | Settings) to Stable, you should see OTA-4 again. If you see it, can you select it?

    • RE: Dual Boot on Volla 22

@mv I own a VP22 running UT. Dual booting is only possible (currently?), if your device comes with VollaOS. Installation of a second OS like UT is done from within VollaOS. (There are good docs for this on the Volla site.)

@magnargj You can check the issues at https://github.com/HelloVolla/ubuntu-touch-beta-tests and open another one, if it is a new issue.
