One thing I have noticed in the updated web browser: https://kagi.com is rendering their desktop UI. This seems to happen even if I force a custom user agent via Webber. Kagi does render properly on other mobile browsers. But this really only seems to affect Kagi, so whatever they are doing must be at odds with whatever Morph is doing. It did render the mobile UI in the older qt6 beta browser. Maybe there is some regression around communicating user agent or "I'm a mobile browser" feature points to the server?

@projectmoon said: I didn't say don't use AI answers, I said don't dump raw walls of text straight from an AI chatbot because no one is going to read that. I have no idea what the timeframe for RCS on Ubuntu Touch is (non-existent at the moment, I would imagine). But when posting, one should at least expend the minimum effort to write their own words, even if using an LLM to get an answer. It's not hard. Ahhh, OK. Thank you for clarifying.

@mariogrip FP5 build 144 I can half confirm @shafiqalibhai report about external storage, for me the external storage is seen and mounted (it can be used from the command line), however it is indeed not seen in Places. For reference, here is how it appears on 24.04-1.3: [image: 1782922294134-places_2404.jpg] clicking on the 'name' (well, id) of the device allows to browse. With 26.04, the display is identical but the entry marked with an arrow in my screenshot is missing. While I'm at it, I have noticed that in Morph browser, it's not possible to share an URL: the menu entry (Share) exists, however clicking on it does nothing so it's not possible to create a web site icon with Webber (this works in 24.04-1.3)

@Farmebrown the trouble with using a talking electric heater as an advocacy helper is that it is making your thoughts look likely without proper basis. In the case of your post, it is asking to Ubuntu Touch to provide an alternative to a Windows software called 'Windows phone link'. Why is this inappropriate ? because it is a desktop software. Ubuntu Touch is a phone software. Ubuntu Touch do not aim at being an alternative to Fedora, Debian Ubuntu... If KDE Connect find this functionality out of scôpe, if no well known software phone exists on Linux that can do that with an Android phone, that's for a reason: it's because it's a marginal need for a market that is - if one takes 3% of the 1 billion users of desktop OS - about 30 million users. If and when Linux desktop developers write such a software that can connect to an Android phone to do something equivalent to what you are asking, now it could be the moment to study why an UT phone could not be used instead of an Android phone. I'd say that this hypothetical problem could probably be solved then entirely at the linux kernel level without any Ubuntu Touch application software. I think that the Ms software relies probably only on 'standard' Bluetooth features.

@Moem Yea from the video, and what i have read, it is a nice application on paper. Also there signup process for account creation is just your "username" no email or phone number required, that is also a really nice privacy first account creation. However now that i think of it , usernames are pretty target able for a lot of people. So a even better account creation would be to create a random available id, and change the nickname after. So yes if someone is willing to build it, and maybe some research further to see how it is actually handling the encryption and security aspect of chat, voice and video calling... it will most likely be nice to have in the openstore.

@pparent Sorry YES, corrected Running without your script. In fact, the network quite frequently disconnects and then reconnects but not instantly, often with a lag of a few seconds. That said, I am wary that this does not come from atmospheric conditions with high heat and azure blue skies where waves often circulate poorly.

@kristatos said: it also works if you swipe down the notification-indicator and tap on the notification. That was always working for all the apps. The issue is tapping on the notification bubble - that does nothing for apps like Dekko and Greenline - and my (humble) opinion is that tapping on the notification bubble should open the respective app, like tapping on the notification bubble for a new text message which indeed opens the Messages app.

@Moem Yes Same path for 26.04-1.x. I had the early update on my redmi then nothing anymore. Porters are working to put those devices on dynamic partition. On one on my Redmi Note 9 Pro, 6 months ago, I have increased (with Eric H help) the system partition to 4.7Gb (far enough) by deleting the (for my phone) unused Product 1.2Gb partition and increased the system one as much as possible.

Hello all, It has been decided to postpone the new contact backend to 26.04.x to avoid slowing down the overall roadmap. We will try to move also at that time to the new calendar backend.. 2 major internal changes in a row. I keep you informed.

@Linus67 it needs to be ran as root. Sudo is interactive in terminal so it won't work, but pkexec is the GUI equivalent so it should launch a popup for the password. Alternatively set the suid bit of the script to make it always run as root without password (and ensure the file is not writable by phablet as that would allow local privilege escalation).

For what it's worth, this bug should be solved in 24.04-1.3 (no need to apply a patch script: the sense that the placeholder does not remain open in background anymore). It could still be a nice fix to avoid that it uses a lot of CPU in the first place, as it could possibly allow for faster starts of the apps.

@arubislander so on the regular desktop version its a normal ubuntu boot stack then it hands off into the UT rootfs .....still not done ...taking a break on that for sanity rn
