I honestly think the point is being missed here especially with the support issue. This is not UBports selling new devices devices in a commercial way and not offering support for them. They are not being flashed by UBports and then sold without support. It is meant to just enable an individual to point out they have a device for sale somewhere subject to the normal terms and conditions of that market site and that is it. End of story. As I said before if you are buying from one of these sites it is up to the buyer to do their research and ask questions of the seller. The Ubports sites will have full details of the devices affected by any change or dropping of support no doubt clearly displayed on it as we do with all other major changes to the OS. We will not be hiding the fact that support is being changed or unfortunately dropped for some older devices if they cannot cope with future OS development. I stand to be corrected but I think this will only affect some of the original UT devices which will be well past the normal support cut off offered by android etc.

One small suggestion, which I make not out of cynicism but simply because I think overselling is a problem when people are enthusiastic about a project (as we rightfully are): maybe leave off the verbiage about a "growing list of devices" until the list actually grows? So far as I recall, only one community port has ever appeared, all the Halium ports have some way to go, and the non-Halium devices are in early days yet, so hasn't it actually been a couple of years since the list grew?

@Flohack exactly. Open Source projects don't have to sell. The collective energy of the community determines the direction of the project. As the energy is continuesly changing and the members of the community have different interests over time, the shared story of the open project is also fluïd and continously adapting to its community dynamics. Its important that the current project story is told so the community is keeping itself vital and productive.

@hummlbach That sounds like a good idea to me. There's the hackathon coming up in Jan at the shackspace. I know everyone attending will be busy on the Telegram app, but it would be a good opportunity to leave a few stickers and whatever about and create some noise. I've sent a link to this post to marketing so lets see what can sorted for then.

We can for tax reasons not sell stuff on our own private entities. We will have this as soon as we are a foundation though.
