@normmmm Please follow @arubislander's directions and use a laptop/pc to follow the links and download the correct android version and android flash tool. Non of thiscan be done on the phone as it needs to be connected to the pc/laptop via a usb cable to flash the correct android 9.

@lodhi Please note going back and forth from 20.04 to 16.04 may throw up some issues. Treat them as 2 different OS. The apps can be completly different as is the OpenStore the main idea is that when you move you stay there. My 3a had a few issues with installing after a few back and forths. There will be another RC soon for 20.04 and I would recommend that for the 3a which runs great on 20.04.

@orchard800 As @Moem mentioned, the code you set to unlock your device (pin or password) becomes the password for your user. Ubuntu Touch is set up like regular Ubuntu with a locked root account and the main user with sudo privileges. So doing things like su - will not work. If you really need to start a root session (not for using apt, that is not supported) you could do sudo su - instead. What happened to you was that you set up a pin via the GUI, and then went and changed that to an alphanumeric password from the command line. Since the GUI still thinks you have a numeric password it presents to you the numeric keypad for easier entry. This leaves you with no way to enter the other characters of your password, effectively locking you out of your device via the GUI. (ADB access might still have been possible if you had set that up previously.) The takeaway is this: if you want increased security, set a password via the settings, not a pin. Having said that, a change is in the pipeline to allow setting of longer pins than the four digits that is currently the case.

Seemed to have resolved itself? However, upgraded to the RC of 20.04 and camera works fine. Battery life still poor (but that may be my device).

Thank you! I'm using Debian 11 - I can't work Windows - and the recognition is...? spotty? I'll try to find another cable... seems to me the same thing happened before but i got up the next day and it just worked. Haven't had a new new phone since the Galaxy S4 so my cables are suspect anyway. Really appreciate the feedback.

@tupelohoney Flashlight toggle doesn't work yet in 20.04. I have heard the uTorch app does work though. Check if it is in the OpenStore all. If not you might need to download it from the open store website. What the picture transfer is concerned, do you mean via Bluetooth? Bluetooth is know to be finicky on Ubuntu Touch at the moment.

@carl Hi, I want to buy an pixel 3a xl too for daily driver. Before I buy it i want some kind of feedback about battery life with waydroid, whats work and where are the problems. Also I thinking between pixel 3a xl and poco x3 nfc, and for now I don't know which one to choose. If someone could give me answers, thanks a lot!

@emphrath thank you so much for answering all the questions! From everything you've written, I've decided to save more money and get an Xperia instead of a Pixel. In order to use it as a daily driver, it has to fulfill all the basic things and still be able to last through a day (and a half).

@jite I have now rebooted android on the device and I can confirm that gps works flawlessly so it is not a problem with the device hardware. This is really disappointing as it shows that really gps is only ‘partially working’ for UT for the pixel 3a xl. I really did try to use the gps and give it every chance to pick up a satellite (I would consider beyond what most people would be willing to do). I think I will wait until focal fossa is developed a little bit more before retrying UT in the future. I use a linux desktop and enjoy the freedom it gives me. I know that droidian is a possibility but my ideal would be to use sxmo on the device and currently the pmos port is not advanced enough for it to be a daily driver. For my taste (and yes this is an opinion) UT is a bit too locked down and the best bit of linux for me is the ability to do whatever you want with the phone so the script writing nature of sxmo really does appeal to me. Different tricks for different folks I suppose. One of the things I look forward to with fossa is the use of libertine as with 20.04 some of the desktop apps will be more up to date and useful, which is the sort of thing that will take me back to using UT as running it in desktop mode would potentially be more useful. Still love the fact that UT still exists and it is still a great distro!

@lordkrs Docker will probably not work in libertine. Libertine creates unprivileged containers and it is not obvious that Docker would be able to run properly in those. Furthermore Docker is a daemon, and daemons are not supported in Libertine. Is there something specific you are trying to do? Maybe there is another way to do it, more compatible with how UT works

Hi @jite I have an Pixel 3a running "Stable". No issue with the GPS. When you let your phone open, were you out in the open? Also the screen must remain on and an app actively searching for your location. My steps are to just launch Pure Maps and choose to navigate to somewhere. Pure Maps keep the screen on when navigating (default setting) so I don't have to do much then leave the phone do its thing.

So I reinstalled through the installer to get the latest updates and now both open store and terminal are there I did try installing waydroid through the terminal but it can't find the package. I'm guessing it's not ready yet.

Hi, i know it's been awhile since i posted in this thread, but i just wanted to say that i decided not to use Linphone. I was told at the North American Carrier Issues Forum on the Telegram app that i can use a sim card if i only use 2G speed in the cellular settings. I got a Tracfone sim which uses the T-Mobile Network and T-Mobile still has 2G service. But i found out with the sim card in my phone the UT browsers i use get pretty wonky. Sometimes pages won't load unless i turn the phone off for 30 seconds and then restart it. It happens when i want to go from one website or forum to another. Sometimes the site i go to doesn't load, and i have to power cycle my phone so the page will show up. It happens with the Morph and Sapot browsers. It doesn't happen with Demo browser but that is a very limited browser, ie: you can't bookmark pages or save favorites. And the inability to load pages also happens with Onion browser, and not only that, but whenever you want to go to a site, you have to re-enter your username and password. Thank God that doesn't happen with Demo browser, because with the sim card in my phone it's the only reliable browser in UT. Is anybody else using a sim card in their UT phone and having these browser problems?
