@libremax I'm on a 3G phone using Tracfone and it works fine. But 3G is being phased out anyway, so I am upgrading.

@ragz In relation to the title of your post : About the current UT smartphones, except error, i think the undisputed leader in battery capacity is the Volla Phone: 4700 mAh

@ragz The difference is in the very design of the OS. Ubuntu Touch is based on Ubuntu, which is a GNU/Linux distribution, so its userbase is more interested in open code and transparency. By contrast, Microsoft and Apple's models are based on profiting off their users, so they hard code the data farming into their programs/products. Now I didn't bring up Android because... if UT code is open, couldn't someone take it, make it have data harvesting and all that and close source it? They could, and that basically is what Android is: Linux with closed source parts and Google's intrusive presence. So UT's workaround is to basically partition off the closed source controller (which replaces the GNU part of GNU/Linux) and open the rest of the phone.

@danqo6 Maybe you could make a simplified tutorial for fb messanger, but I madfe a somewhat verbose tutorial which mentions how to get fb working through matrix using a linode server. https://dev.to/phoenixlandpirate/bridging-using-matrix-with-ansible-wip-l7o

@tanejarahul The former user was a spammer they've been banned. And I'll lock this thread. Etcher is useful to flash the Pinephone for example but any spam is treated the same way.

@Peter-Gamma Libertine is a container for Ubuntu desktop apps. Support may vary depending on devices but it should work if not specified in the limitations. Battery consumption is also very device specific. The power management of Ubuntu Touch is pretty efficient, but how to control the CPUs is often hard to get for porters. For example trying to put to sleep 7 cores from a 8-core device for a given period of time is not an easy thing when we don't have access to the proprietary blob handling it.

Hi and welcome @JMA I moved your post to the Off Topic category as we do for all "will you port Ubuntu Touch to my device" kind of question. You can try and port Ubuntu Touch to your device following this guide: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/2068/halium-first-steps

@diagon Good Morning or whatever time of day it is where you are. Firstly no agenda, spin or underlying plan/scheme behind my decisions at all ever. That is not what we are about. Next I think @AppLee has expanded on the main reasons your post has been highlighted twice now. Except for this point and it might help. There is always an argument about removing links for whatever reason from threads unless they are totally and obviously offensive. Yours were getting flagged as spam so what to do. This time they were removed but I believe there is enough info left for people to do their own web search to find out where you are coming from without leaving them or the forum open to potential spam links. As I have already said if you have reasons you prefer to use Signal over Telegram fine, please expand on them in a way no matter how technical and involved. A long list of links is not a reason for or against. We try hard to keep political and non UT dscussions off this Forum as it is not what it is here for and there are other and better places for that. We have no objection to robust discussion (and there have been a few) as long as it is conducted in a polite and friendly way. So please enjoy and feel to contribute along those lines. We also use this for reference https://ubuntu.com/community/code-of-conduct

Since UT is only just now moving to 5.12, I guess we will have plenty of time to see once the dust has settled on this. Either upstream will work with "unstable" qt6 or maybe there will be a fork, who knows.

I've had a few problems with booting on the Surface 3 when using Ubuntu. Sometimes you have to reburn the disk, perhaps try using a different burning utility. Not everything is supported, there are a few minor problems here and there. It uses the 4.10 kernel which, if memory serves, supports the trackpad and touchscreen at least. For backlight brightness control you may have to install an RC for 4.13 or something. jiofilocalhtml https://forpc.onl/snaptube-for-pc

And with that I think we can safely end the discussion there.
