What would also help, are good man pages, docs and online helps. My favorite SciFi author Stanislaw Lem said something like: Nobody reads anything, who reads does not understand it, and who understands will forget it (loosely cited). Nowadays I would add: Nobody writes any man pages.

@uzanto said in Librem 5: theoretically can run with any GNU/Linux System without anything about Android. I think we should be good from that point of view. Their quick facts says "Does not run Google Android" and "Does not run Apple iOS". The only thing to worry about is that it would not be able to take off due to insufficient funds.

@Stefano Michael Hall no longer works at Canonical. He's joined Endless as communicty manager for the EndlessOS project.

  • Snaps on Android? What does that mean for Ubports?

Does this mean that Ubuntu Core images could be relatively easily delivered to devices that support Halium? Could it potentially allow Ubuntu Touch to be moved onto Ubuntu Core as Canonical planned before they ditched it? In my opinion Ubuntu Core based system and snaps as a primary app distribution format for 16.04 or later at some point could be now discussed again, as it is definitely an argument worth evaluating. What's more, Ubuntu Core is going be treated with new series bianually (http://ubuntudesign.github.io/docs-demo/snappy-dev/ubuntu_core_desktop/), thus by the time Ubports is moved to 16.04 (as I guess there are still pretty much a few months to go) there will be Ubuntu Core series 18 at least in tests. Wouldn't moving onto Core unload quite a big chunk of work and code maintainance from Ubports then? By the way, to be not misleaded by the thread title: it's not that you will be able to install snap applications on your Android phone at some point - it's rather that Ubuntu Core will be able to be booted in a similar way to Android, thus potentially simplyfying delivery of Ubuntu Core image for a device that runs Android out of the box.

https://copperhead.co/android/ it seems uber expensive to buy one of their pre installed Pixel phones, and it's also rather restrictive for application options. interesting approach though to hardening Android. It would be cool to have dual boot with UT to try out both. probably not going to be possible. Will Pixels be candidates for future UT porting?
