@johnmz You seem to be in the wrong forum! This forum is about the mobile OS called Ubuntu Touch; to us, Yumi is the name of our cheerful little mascot, seen at the top of the page. I don't think your project is in any way related to Ubuntu Touch. Right?

@jojo2 While UT is a convergent OS, when running it on a mobile device your choices will be limited by the the architecture (arm64 mostly these days) and hardware (cpu speed, ram and storage size). Having said that, there are a number of ways to run foreign OS or architecture or programs. For Android apps there is Waydroid. For desktop apps there is Libertine, and on some devices snap support. For foreign architecture appa there is WindeBox. And for full on virtual machines there is PocketVM. Using any of these, your experience will vary depending on the app and your device.

@ujota said in Será que um dia teremos a versão UB para Motorola?: Teremos alguma versão para os celulares da Motorola? Hello ujota, This is an English-spoken forum, so I'll translate your question this time: Will there be a version for Motorola phones? The answer is that we don't know. There are currently no Motorola's listed on https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ . And whether any will appear in the future depends on whether someone in the community owns the device has the skills to make a port and is able and willing to spend the time to do so. Ports are made by volunteers and it's hard to predict what volunteers will do.

@GermanAizek said in [Nintendo DMCA] My Gitlab account is banned: Why UBPorts don't have self-hosted git like all open source projects? Maybe because it requires money and people to maintain such a tool ? And not all open source project have their own git, that's why tools like sourceforge or gitlab have so much open source project hosted on them.

@PiotrBujakowski Because there is no Ubuntu Touch port for your device. https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ And Ubuntu Touch is not the same as "Linux Ubuntu" for desktop, you can't install it the same way, like I said, it need to be ported by someone, maybe you if you have skill for, but it's a long and hard job to be done. https://forums.ubports.com/topic/2068/halium-first-steps

@BlipBertMon said in Ubuntu Touch UT tablets with phone functionality: PORT PLEASE!!! That's not a question that makes sense, as asked. There is not a team of developers sitting around somewhere and saying 'Now what device shall we port today?' In reality, most ports are done by volunteers, that means community members like you and me, who happen to have all three of these: a compatible device they can stand to risk bricking, the skills to port it, and the time required to do so. It's not a simple or quick task. It can take weeks or months. It's a lot to ask. So your simple 'PORT PLEASE!!!' is not going to accomplish anything.

@jojumaxx We will have to wait for the very next kickstarter campaign to respond. Because this smartphone would be under halium 14, therefore a new challenge for UT if it were done. Edit : It's much less than unlikely and more than likely

@thereverend, please note the All Devices page, not just the Promoted/Supported Devices. There are many good options in there. Also note, UT runs very nicely on older phones. I like this for the low cost of used phones, but even moreso because I find the amount of waste involved in getting a new phone every few years kinda gross. I'm also humming along happily on a Oneplus 5T from 2017. 128gb, 8gb ram, good camera, headphone port.. what more do I need? I just replaced the battery, now it runs for days! UT doesn't run on the device you have because nobody's done the work. As was stated above, it's plenty of work to make it all run properly on a given device, and this is mostly a community of volunteers, with a lot of important things to work on. You can learn a lot, work hard. and you can be the person to make it work on the Note 20. My advice though is that if you want to try Ubuntu Touch, read through the All Devices page thoroughly, find a device that suits you and is available and affordable in your area used, and try it out!

Volla Phone 22 has dual boot now again. I have the Android version and it comes with Volla OS. Volla OS is based on AOSP with some components from Lineage OS and specific components from Volla. I have Ubuntu Touch installed on the external MicroSD card as dual boot. UT runs quite fast from my SD card, I can use it as my daily driver. In some cases I boot Android, but most of the time I use UT. It is much faster than my Pinephone with mobian.

Sorry, but this is not a general Waydroid forum, it's just one for Waydroid on Ubuntu Touch. We do not support Waydroid on Fedora.

Hosed pendrive recovered, many thanks to PartedMagic. Then struggled to get YUMI Multiboot to install distros. Oh, yeah Windows 11, thanks for your "Folder Protection". Whitelisted YUMI, Ubuntu versions on pendrive, successful Ubuntu 23.10 install on ancient celeron machine, all data recovered, back up and running....:beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:
