@jb-gbaeza We don't do politics at all. Just a very good OS Ubuntu Touch for mobile devices. The best way to spread the word is start with yourself. No one can do that better than an enthusiastic user.

Sorry, but this problem is outside of what Ubuntu Touch can do and it's also outside of what this forum is for.

@jb-gbaeza Before buying the cell phone, check the devices IMEI online (for free) to see if it has been blacklisted, which means the device is stolen, been lost or been involved in other criminal activity. The IMEI can be found on devices System settings, on the SIM Card tray sometimes (usually require a magnifying glass) or on a label on the back. If your device is stolen from you, simply having a pin lock/passcode is good enough to stop the casual thief accessing your data, but if running a custom ROM or UT and the bootloader is unlocked (a requirement to install UT) the device can be reset and used again, unless you report it stolen and get the IMEI blacklisted.

Hi! To the initial question: Yes, I used SFOS for 4 years and now after a failed flashing procedure I installed UBT on Volla (GS290) for curiosity and for way of variety.

@mel1242 said in [request]ROGPHONE Series Support: I would like to be able to support ubuntu touch on the Asus rogphone series. Sorry, you can't request for a volunteer to port to a specific device. Volunteers do what they like. And a possible volunteer would need to have the device in hands. I have a rogphone2 but the screen is broken and I am planning to send it in for repair. I am already using android on the new one I bought and want to convert my ROGPHONE to Linux. Then maybe you are the volunteer you're looking for. Please see here and you'll get an idea of what porting entails. https://docs.ubports.com/ I would like to know if there is an unofficial way to do this at my own risk. No. Every device needs its own port. If that is not possible, please let me know which LinuxDistribution you support. We support Ubuntu Touch. This topic will now be moved to Off Topic and closed; the reason why is here.

For real, Nreal, the folks who do the work on UT are heroic. It makes me want to learn to code. I'd never owned a cellphone before 2020, and I was just astounded that there was a non spyware OS that worked so well. I'm still astounded that buying an appropriate used phone and switching to UT isn't MUCH more common. Also, that's great news re: cross-app communication. On behalf of the world, thanks to the EU for continuing to enact legislation that many non-EU members wind up benefitting from (death to proprietary chargers). Hopefully the future is Matrix.

@tekisui said in Have to initiate manufature of mobile phones or smartphones: I read something about a "dosbox" to run gluugle play apps on ubuntu touch ? Assuming you mean Google: You may be thinking of Anbox. But that is old and no longer maintained. The better option, for those devices that can support it, is called Waydroid. But how that relates to the subject of this thread is unclear to me. And I think you asked this already. Were those answers not what you were looking for?

@thereverend Currently I don't see support for that device, but if you want to you can try to port UT on it Here is a good starting point. https://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/porting/introduction/index.html Good luck.

@Keneda Let's admit that a few bad technocratic decisions are made, it won't change much I think because in the world of foss, I don't speak for UT specifically but all OS, many browsers are in circulation (and perhaps more after that), the sources are mainly free access and everyone is free to put in or remove the packages they want. This is just my reflection as a non-specialist. And the thing is that I can't see politicians alienating themselves from, for example, Firefox, a secure browser (so far) and very efficient and surely widely used in all aspects of administration. Beware of the perverse effects of bad political decisions.
