@ikoz Hi, Thanks for the reply... Unfortunately , test_gps doesn't work at all ("**** GPS interface not found Bye!*" ), tried that yesterday, no wrapping around it would give anything... looks like that comes from the hybris stack for old android stuff that accessed GPS hardware directly... Since I believe the hardware to be already locked/in use by the the software stack, I probably need to simulate the same approach (Qt > QtPosition or Dbus sessions ?) I'll try working with QtPositioning somehow since GPSToolkit uses it USB: yeah, i'll check again later, ideally, I just need a way to inject juice and have a single usb, dunno Network: Yeah, honestly, if it can be Hotspot AP + Station at the same time, all done in UI to keep my dirty fingers away of the network management, that'd be great, or even by splitting the radio chains, 2.4GHs AP, 5GHz Client if needed I know the hardware can do it (because It did work before installing UBt) But it's less of an emergency

Hi @Rondarius IIRC the question was asked in a Q&A or on Telegram. There is currently no official contact between the UBports foundation and Liberux. But of course our door is open and they are welcome to try and port Ubuntu Touch to this device. The more the merrier. And if they have some issues while porting they can do the same as any porter and contact us on the forum or Telegram for help. The foundation do not have the means to kickstart ports for devices. The Fairphones are a good development base as they are rare devices to support wired external display and have very good performances. With this exception, we rely on devices contributors have and want to have working with Ubuntu Touch, in other terms a personal goal instead of something driven by the foundation.

Old post, I know, but if @thedeafenguy or anybody else has bought from that seller, a report might be useful to many of us outside the EU. I've come across that seller before and wondered.

Hi @WillemHexspoor Security is a matter of trust. You either trust Signal and the "experts" that audited them with your data or you don't. Same goes for Matrix. If you self host matrix, than you only have to trust the software. But if you don't you'll have to trust the hosting entity as well. With a bridge it adds another party, but if you already trusted it, it doesn't change anything. But of course the more code you add, the more probable there is an exploit possible. So your reasoning is not bad. But if you consider using a bridge, that's probably because your contacts are not already using matrix and are probably not interested (at least for some of them).

@DenMoore That's not the way I read it. Rather, there is a UT port for the FLX1 that is almost fully functional. Seems you were right after all: https://social.likeadragonmaid.dev/@fakeshell/114226704623272146

It's not on the installer and a quick online search shows no one is working on a port. This means you are going to have to do it yourself which requires skill, tenacity and time. Check out the documentation on porting.

@hsabun said in Anyone working on pixel 5: is anyone working on pixel 5? In addition to what Keneda said, the answer is No, not that we know of.

@DJac sadly this is not the same device, this is for the 8.4" Samsung Galaxy Tab S LTE, why they have it the way they do is very misleading and it really messes with search results for the Galaxy Tab S8

I don't think it's a voting thing, per se... but we're sure to catch their attention this way, I figure.

@zikolakk Well, if you can't do it, then you are most likely out of luck. We do not have a team somewhere that's waiting for suggestions on which devices to port. Most porting is done by volunteers... people like you and me. And keep in mind that in order to make a port, the porter would need to have the device in hands. Your best bet is to buy a device that is currently supported.

@jimenezh If the device is not on the installer and no one is porting UT to it, then unless you have the time and skills to port it is a no go. Running UT from an SD card I have only seen once and I believe the device was one of the Fairphones or Pinephone. It was difficult to do.
