@messayisto I mark this as solved - its not really solved but not that important for me. Nevertheless I ask myself (and all the others ) - is this port still maintained - it all seems so strangely quiet here... -?

@embeddedmz If you reinstall in the box that says Ubuntu 16.04 Stable is a drop down and you can select the channel. However, just thinking, if you can access on the phone the app store, install UT Tweak tool and in there you have an option for scaling which may help.

@phandersson said in UBports install fails with permission error on the device: or would UT also rely on those same drivers to access the HW? I had the same problem and to solve it, I had to format partition in TWRP and then restart UPI.

I made many test, it seems that dialer app can't use BT. the phone ring sound is in my BT device but if I pick up the call the speaker is enable and bt disable instantly when I hang up the phone speaker instanly disable and BT instanly enable. perhaps /etc/pulse/default.pa can be modified to "force"bt all the time? but I don't find solution.

@keneda Well, the camera quality is overall quite bad :(. The fact my MX4 only has 16GB of storage doesn't improve things and I am also missing Waydroid (currently using PinePhone with Manjaro for that) because for reasons beyond my comprehension you can't live without iOS or Android apps in some countries :(. I would again need to replace the battery (I have done that at least 3 times since I had the phone already) as it is starting to feel like a PinePhone now not lasting for a reasonable time and I am still facing these crashes very often. And on top of that I expect Ubuntu 20.04 is not going to be available on MX4 either, albeit the kernel might be able to fullfil the requirements as it can also run Anbox. I wanted to wait for some special new device, have been doing so for the past 2 years at least, but unfortunately there is still nothing that I would love and Redmi Note 9 Pro is still purchasable and seems to have quite decent support. So it caught my eye and persuaded me to try that one out :).

This indeed was a regression that slipped pass Q&A and ended up landing in RC. Good thing it was spotted there by you, the community members before it ended up in stable! The fix was merged last night and ended up in today's devel image. It should land in RC shortly. As we are nearing the release of OTA-21 I encourage everyone who is able to, to switch to the RC channel. And whoever is willing to help in early testing, to switch to the devel channel. More eyes on the features help spotting regressions like this early.

Status update: As it happens, I took the opportunity of having the phone on the dev channel to re-test an application that typically froze the GUI (the app called "Steps" -- I already opened a bug report on that specific issue). Turns out the behaviour was the same on v763, so I wanted to force a power cycle by rebooting the phone on the recovery image (Power + Vol+). But instead of the recovery menu, I was greeted by the spiralling animation: the phone was clearly installing something. When it finished rebooting, I was back on OTA-20, and both SIMs were still active! Following @DPITTI suggestion, I also removed v763 from the upgrade history. I'll now mark this post as "resolved". Many thanks to all those who contributed.

I had similar experience on my Ubuntu. Additionally I saw fastboot crashing with message "press any key to shutdown". On some other thread (which I will also look to comment) I saw suggestions about USB port. Changing of port on my laptop did not work as I have only usb 3.0 but I tried to use other laptop (Mac, with installer suggested by @Moem ), and it worked !

@kernelpancake Download a version of recovery from the twrp website. Make sure you are downloading the device version. Download the stock version from the link provided by the) installer program. That's version 9 of Android. Leave the phone in fastboot mode, go to the folder where you have the recovery download and enter "fastboot boot twrp.img" in a terminal. Once the recovery starts, delete everything, go to the advanced options and you will see that there is a sideload option. Then once started, with the Zip file of the stock version of Android you write in the terminal "adb sideload stock.zip" (stock.zip is the example of the name.) Just in case, do the process on both slots. Once finished, you can start the phone normally and update it as you normally would I am sorry if I have not explained myself well and I feel my English. I use google translate

Kubuntu 20.04 LTS running on my laptop does a very good job at recognizing many phones via ADB without any issue! However when I need some Windows tool(s) for specific phones or issues I use a older laptop that is running Windows 7 Home 64-bit as my "Dedicated Phone Flashing Machine" Also : After flashing a Custom Recovery you should simply tell the phone to reboot into the OEM Recovery and not from the Image File on your PC So try this : fastboot oem reboot-recovery For more info see here for example : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/recovery-3-4-0-10-davinci-official-unofficial-twrp-for-xiaomi-redmi-k20-stable.3960726/

@keneda Thank you for getting back to me. I found out about external OTG adapters for external cards. That works for me just fine under the circumstances. I like the Xiaomi M1A2. Good phone.
