Thanks a lot.
The installation went without a hitch.
The camera works much better than in 20.04.
voLTE is still fully functional on my Redmi Note 9 Pro in Belgium with Orange.
There's still the known problem that prevents Bluetooth pairing with the car.
As for the rest, I'm happy to adopt it, the OS is superb!

Welcome!
I made this choice a year and a half ago and I have never regretted it.

RE: 24.04-2.x how does it work at this point for you ?
@Moem
Yes.
The 24.04-2.x release is well on track (in my opinion) and the 26.4-1.x release is already incredibly usable, provided you’re willing to accept the risk that comes with these being development versions, which may (and will) break from time to time to provide feedback to the developers.
If you need 99.99% reliability, it’s prudent to stick with the stable, tried-and-tested versions.
I’d like to take this opportunity to express my admiration for the quality of the work that’s been done. -

Extremely interesting.
Necessary information that I was missing...
Thank you for sharing, and a thousand thanks to Alfred and those who make this possible. -
RE: Ubuntu Touch Installation Guide for Xiaomi POCO X3 NFC / X3
@bad1080
Unfortunately, nothing is interchangeable with UT.
Basically, your phone, running a specific version of Android, has low-level drivers and a partition layout that are very specific to that device.
When UT is installed, the partition layout is modified from the original configuration, whilst the low-level drivers are retained. An intermediate layer between these Android drivers and UT is installed (Halium (9 or 10 or 11, etc.), which is also specific to your hardware.
Finally, UT is configured to communicate with this Halium layer.
Failure to adhere strictly to the prerequisites will, at best, result in a non-functional system; at worst, a phone that is permanently unusable.
(My apologies to purists for this oversimplified explanation) -

RE: This week in development (week 52 2024)
Hello.
I'm trying the 24.04 (r85) on my Redmi Note 9 Pro.
I had an issue while configuring the device.
I have plugged a usb keyboard and after using the top tool bar to change the keyboard layout to azerty belgium.
The system parameter has crashed after i choose this keyboard.
After this, i can't launch system parameters nor any app on the phone (terminal, camera, ...).
The screen pop up and close just after.
Wondering how to look at the log files... -

Interesting presentation at Fosdem 2026. Transferable to UT?
Hello.
I found this presentation showing the adaptation of an open-source Android application ( NewPipe ) to Sailfish OS very interesting.
This could be a way to expand the software library.

Hello?
To run UT, you need exactly Android 10 Stock ROM as described before -
RE: I need your experience to choose
@kimo
Nothing but great phones.
I'd add the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro, which works perfectly with Ubuntu Touch and which I use daily with great pleasure.
If I had to choose another brand and had a bit of time, I'd also look at the Brax3, which is currently being ported. -
RE: Noble-based devel images now available on most devices with 20.04 devel image
@nunesfl
Yes, the size on a partition is too small.
You 'll have to add argument to the installer command.:
./ubports-installer_0.10.0_linux_x86_64.AppImage -f ./miatoll.yml
and the miatoll.yml can be downloaded here:
https://github.com/ubports/installer-configs/tree/fd9802a07cf67d489a78331af3426c416c677f23/v2/devicesAnd check the three boxes during install
And, also, the miatoll.yml have to be located in the same folder as the installer (not sure it's necessary but...)
