@hlbkv gnome software can handle debs and flatpaks (and on Ubuntu also snaps I think). The app itself is a deb, so it is not surprising that it can be installed. The apps that end up being able to be installed with it are probably also debs.

Just an update, I gave up on trying the KDEConnect workaround. I did some deep investigation on resolving the issue within Waydroid itself, and documented my progress. It's definitely a feature-request in Waydroid. https://github.com/waydroid/waydroid/issues/211 I haven't done any more work on it for a while, since my last post on github. There are a few libs being used in Waydroid, which I linked to, which have sparse documentation. I don't have deep enough knowledge of these languages and platforms to be able to fix this easily - not to mention android's workflow for builds. Wasn't able to do a build of LineageOS on my PC; some incompatibility with package versions. It'd be nice to resolve this for everybody who uses Waydroid, but IRL is taking priority for now.

@Dunbrokin said in adb install: I am just so used to installing from the CLI Yeah, I don't think that's common in Android or similar systems.

@arubislander I will be honest I'm not sure, I'm really new at this. I saw that UT supports many ubuntu 20.04 programs so I thought I would try to install express vpn since I have a subscription. This is a second phone to me so if I make mistakes I can always start over and learn from what I did wrong. My research led me to think maby the drive wasn't mounted correctly but I haven't had time to check yet. Its very possible express vpn wont work on UT but I will look into the other installation method you spoke of. Thanks!!

@arubislander Well, the new sim didn't change anything in this regard. I got a crash yesterday shortly after opening Messenger- hadn't even had a chance to type anything. After a reset, it's behaved since then. -Fizz

@neopentain said in support on x505f: there won't be any problem if I port the x605 one on a x505 ?? If you try to use the current version as it is, that's not called porting, that's installing. And installing a version of Ubuntu Touch on a different device (even if it's similar) will generally not work and can result in a brick. If you adapt the version to work with your tablet, that's called porting; it's usually not very easy or quick. But it may be an option. Please start by reading the porting guide so you know what is involved.

Just wanted to clarify, Yes, it was two monitors but they were mirrored, not extended. Makes the second monitor pointless for now.

@AppLee Thank you to yourself and @arubislander for replying. I took another look the next morning and I can see it does what you say, making no attempt to connect wirelessly. I think there were a lot of variables to consider the previous evening and I gained the impression it was trying to use the poor outbound wireless connection. I'm more sure now the mobile signal was also very poor and intermittent (it was a sea-front camp site). So I think the phone (Volla X23) did the best it could.

Well for me it's safe to use google because I never use it really. so once connected and being on the landing page at the airport, I just close the tab, so no connection to google at all. But I like the solution proposed by Kugiigi, it didn't work for me in a hotel, but I was able to find the local IP address used by the router and that worked.

@thedeafenguy this device does not support display(port) over usb-c. So you won't be able to achieve wired display mode.

@thedeafenguy Thank you, but following the steps in this order and doing other order that I can think of does not help. I'll take a look around and see if I can find out the steps needed to back up and restore my text messages and photos so I can do an absolute re-install leaving nothing behind.

Ok try this. Set a static IP address of one of the access point to the lowest IP address available on the router and set and set the DHCP to auto. On the other AP, set the IP to a static IP to the highest IP address available on the router and switch off DHCP. Makes sure that both access points have the same SSID. Make sure the WPA-PSK key is the same. If there are roaming settings, set them to high or aggressive. (I haven't done this for a while so had to research to refresh on this as all the children have at last moved out :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes: and I stopped doing it for clients). Oh, and make sure each access point channels are not the same, overlapping channels usually interfere and cause confusion, I usually set them to 6 and 13.

@linuxlion It would seem both of us were going about this the wrong way. On the login page (you would need to log out of the forum first to see it) there is a Forgotten password link. Here is the direct link: https://forums.ubports.com/reset
