@Alain You don't have to "root" the device, just unlock the bootloader. Snaps are getting quite functional, but there are people better placed to answer that. The games are pretty basic, but quite fun and you have control, not Google or it's cohorts. As for installing, it is pretty straightforward and the tablet you are getting is up there as well supported.

Edit: Turns out something was cached wrong on my machine, I think. Anyway: all is well, and the buttons work no problem

@master_menace said in “ubports-installer” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.: Is 0.10.0 still available? I guess yes. https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer/releases

To be honest, I don't think it's ready to be promoted as such. It should be listed there but not described as "best" since as you mentioned, it only has the devel channel and development is still active so big changes lands from time to time that may bring functionalities but could also land regressions. For example, proper sleep was implemented however there are quirks that came with it such as wifi issue while device is sleeping. Theoretically it is one, if not the best device for UT but currently I don't think it is.

@developerbayman There are services on UT... there is just no streamlined or officially sanctioned mechanism yet to describe and bundle services as clicks. Different apps implement different solutions to this problem when they require it. If the service only needs to be available when the main app is running, some apps launch the background service on startup and terminate it on shutdown. If the service needs to be running independently of the main app, then you could see the app deploying and hooking up systemd user service configurations on first run.

@kuailexs As a mature and comprehensive human, you'll easily understand that we need to talk the same language in order to keep the forum clear and easy to read, and to search on. As a mature and comprehensive human, you should understand that we, all non english native speaking persons, are making the effort to communicate in the chosen language for us to talk each other, because it is one (simple) rule here to follow. I really would prefer to speak french anywhere, anytime, but hey, as a comprehensive and mature adult I know that we can't always do whatever we want

@alagirialagiri said in what's a good minimum translation completion percentage: @doniks I want to know whether the news section , question and answer blog posts are available in weblate translation in Tamil language. There is no navigation box available as available in documentation page.i request weblate translators to provide the language transulation Navigation box for every forum .Thanking you. As I said before, I think it would be best to create a new post to maximise the chances that the right people can react to your questions, rather than burry your questions here in this thread. I don't have access to the blog

Third try with UBports Installer I have a new Lenovo Tab M10 HD Gen 2 with Android 11. When I simply plug the tablet into the computer, the file manager gives me another name :"mtp://LENOVO_Lenovo_TB-X306X_HPV41GPV/" I'm trying to install Ubuntu Touch with UBports Installer. I manually selected "Lenovo Tab M10 Gen 2". I kept default settings. I double-checked the bootloader was unlocked. I turned off the tablet and then held the "volume down" and the "power" button simultaneously until I got the message "=> FASTBOOT mode..." I tried leaving the tablet plugged into the computer and I tried plugging it off then back in after it reboots into fastboot mode. No change. I always get stuck at this stage. The tablet says "=> FASTBOOT mode...", UBports Installer says "Waiting for device - Asserting unlocked bootloader variable". And nothing else happens. I waited for over an hour on the second try. Now I'm waiting again. Any suggestion please?

Hello big brain people! Im new here searching for answers about my tablet device Im building. The situation or better say problem is I need to have access to internet, while an ethernet device is connected to my tablet. Internet from wifi/bluetooth/LTE is automatically cut off when the usbA device is connected, acting as an ethernet device. This seems to be a problem with the "USB controlled by" always staying at "Connected device". Or is it a driver issue? I can talk to the device via an app easy, but I just need internet. Any advice appreciated. Im also very shocked that very few people know about the specifics of Android connection routing and its interaction with physical usb ports. Best regards
