Hey folks! It's been a while since I tried UT for the first time and I was very impressed about how easy and flawless the installation went now with the UBPorts installer. My old Volla-Phone starts nicely and after one nasty crash it appears to work rather stable now. Great, thanks to all involved!!! However, I am wondering, since my last attempt with UT like 4 or 5 years ago there seem to be only little changes regarding 2 things I'd consider absolutely essential: Browser Although Morph is basically working and even reaching a very good html5 rating (something which appeared to be a problem in the past) it seems there is no way to save passwords? While it may be reasoned by security concerns this seems a bit odd on modern systems. Or is there something to fill this gap? E-Mail Client The only really suitable client appears to be "Dekko 2" but it almost didn't get any updates in the last years it seems and is having a looong list of issues yet, including some strange hangings always on my device. Don't get me wrong here, I am still very thankful for all the work the author put in there and don't want to criticize, because I know how much work this means for basically no rewards - but I wonder, why is there no "Core" E-Mail client in UT with appropriate support? I absolutely don't get that, ain't that important for the average UT user? a webbased app seems to be no valid alternative to me. So, whats the usual approach here, am I missing something? Are people just using waydroid installing some android counterpart?

@ikoz said in Fairphone "gen" 6 is there !: It will also support mainline Linux (like the pinephone) as the patches have already been submitted: https://www.phoronix.com/news/Fairphone-6-Linux. I suppose the Ubuntu Touch port will be Halium based but it is certainly nice anyway. Heya, new here, long term Linux user looking to get my first smartphone. Does you mean that the FF5 did not support mainline Linux? Why the change with FF6? I wonder about the advantages/disadvantages to using mainline Linux vs the Hallum approach, I presume that this amounts to a desktop equivilence to doing a clean install of Ubuntu, vs installing it in Windows? I imagine doing a clean install gives you more security as you do not rely on the security of another OS. whether Android or Windows? I wonder though if one can still use the FF6 as a phone if one runs mainline linux on it. From what I have read above, it looks like there haven't been too many changes from FF5 to FF6, so perhaps that makes it easier for Ubuntu Touch to get released on the FF6? Sorry, lots of questions. I feel so excited about this!

@peat_psuwit said in Status update on Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1.x, March/April 2025: The new framework is called ubuntu-touch-24.04-1.x, with -qml variant for QML-only applications Thanks for all! So the framework name should be ubuntu-touch-24.04-1.x-qml or ubuntu-touch-24.04-1.x-papi ? @peat_psuwit

@haagch im currently working on the nix-manager project + in between somethings, so it will take me a while to test. LibreWolf is secure by default like that and i will not change it, maybe a call out that this is an extremely hardened version of firefox. location is not something i can fix, this is something for librewolf devs/ ut devs to work on. UI bugs relating to clipboard are due to xwayland and will be "fixed" by running under wayland when subsurface support is introduced.

Hi I'm trying to port Ubuntu Touch to my Motorola Moto E 2020 (ginna). I'm doing the standalone kernel method. But for some reason when I do the halium-install script: <QUOTES>"For Halium 9.0 ports, use this command: path/to/halium-install -p ut -s path/to/ubuntu-touch-android9-arm64.tar.gz path/to/[SYSTEM_IMAGE]"<QUOTES> the script starts copying rootfs.img but then it STOPS copying at 24% each time. Anyone know what to do?????

As I said before, I think it would be best to create a new post to maximise the chances that the right people can react to your questions, rather than burry your questions here in this thread. I don't have access to the blog
