@3x5 Just to clarify: UBports is the name of the community. The OS is called Ubuntu Touch because it is based on Ubuntu, well, actually in many ways, it is Ubuntu, but then slimmed down to run on a mobile device. One thing that is front and center though, is, as you've experienced, making the phone experience the best it can be on a phone, and the tablet experience the best it can be on a tablet. Desktop applications (I prefer to use that term, rather than 'legacy') were only ever meant to shine being used as they were originally intended. Slap on a keyboard, mouse and external monitor and your gmusicbrowser would be much more pleasant to work with. Only thing is, it would not be very 'mobile'. Maybe encourage the developers of gmusicbrowser to make their application adaptive to smaller screens. Does it already do so? Why Morph is labeled as a legacy app in the logs is a mystery to me, as it is one of the applications that most showcases the intent of the OS, to provide one platform for different form factors, with applications that are 'convergent', i.e. look like they belong across different screen sizes and device configurations.

@3x5 IMHO, after you have destroyed your container with the Preferences/Libertine GUI, it is possible that some irrelevant data persist in the following folders : /home/phablet/.cache/libertine-container/xenial /home/phablet/.local/share/libertine-container/user-data/xenial /userdata/user-data/phablet/.cache/libertine-container/xenial Have a look to them before creating the new container Hope this help Pulsar33

I've been having these problems, too. In one case, I tried to install ubuntu-restricted-extras, and the operation got to the point where I had to manually choose 'yes'. to accept a EULA license, but there was no apparent way to accept it and the package just stayed stuck forever. The solution above seemed promising, but when I got to su 32011, the response was No passwd entry for user '32011'. Moving forward, I think i'm going to either run: libertine-container-manager install-package -p PACKAGE-NAME or, I'll run libertine-container-manager exec -i CONTAINER-IDENTIFIER -c "COMMAND-LINE" and once in here, I'll just run apt install PACKAGE-NAME. It feels more natural, to me, to get into the libertine shell and run apt commands, but I don't know if there's any benefit to the other method. I don't know that packages installed with apt are going to show in up the libertine GUI, but at this point, I'm going to try to avoid that GUI as much as possible. It's just not a viable way to install packages, if there's a chance the installation process will prompt the user, and there's no way to interact with the operation.

@peaceblackhair said in Libertine and Lxc: Do you know which packages are required in order to create lxc container with libertine ? The python3-libertine-lxc package is required for lxc to work in libertine. This is not included by default currently, because the stack of packages it pulls in results in python2 being installed, which takes up too much space in the root filesystem.

@arubislander Well that was remarkably easy as it avoided the need to type accurately in the terminal, though I suppose anything is easy if you know how. It only took two minutes, and as a bonus it removed the LibreOffice icons that had remained after deleting the applications yesterday, and which I had not previously mentioned. Thank you so much.

@arubislander I describe in broad outline ... relative to vps/vpn (which allows you to have an ip reachable) it is set to redirect the requests received on port 88 to a specific vpn client (my xiaomi) and vice versa (there are 2 iptables rules) regarding the auto start of nginx, in upstart : description "Libertine - start nginx" start on started unity8 exec /home/phablet/.aa_myscripts/nginx.sh nginx.sh : #!/bin/sh sleep 3 ; sudo chroot /home/phablet/.cache/libertine-container/mylinux/rootfs /bin/bash -c "./startup.sh" in libertine root : startup.sh #!/bin/sh service nginx start one more thing, due to dns changes I've made I could no longer install any program (from gui or libertine-container-manager) so i used chroot, I have reset dns, installed and configured nginx without any particular problems ... do you have more specific questions ?

@pulsar33 said in Libertine Tweak Tool: However, my understanding described above is not exactly the same as @dobey I'm not sure if you're referring to the sole comment under the report about portrait width, but it was not my observation. The issue was imported from GitHub, and the comment starts off stating the GitHub username which made the comment originally.

@lakotaubp Make that decision. In fact, Kodi is better than any Ubuntu Touch media player in the base install. Then they put that posting in the Mediaplayer or Libertine section. Definitely the best solution for me, although it could still be improved.

ssh to localhost. Because of containerization, will not work from regular shell. If you get errors involving apt, do a "sudo mount -o rw,remount /" from your non-ssh terminal. If you can't ssh to local host, do a purge and reinstall open-ssh from your non-ssh terminal. don't forget to start ssh service, but this should happen automatically anyway You will be able to create a libertine container. But the applications installed probably still won't work. They don't on the pinephone. Finally, change your update channel to dev. There are 800 later builds than on the stable channel.

@danval Indeed, as you have already experienced, Ubuntu Touch in general, and Libertine in particular, does not facilitate running background services. That having been said, I am very intrigued with your setup. Do the several services you installed in Libertine run well when you start them manually?
