@sven Okay, thanks! I posted the problem on github too, hoping for a patched vendor image – and ordered a Fairphone 4 which should be maintained more intensively.

I hate it when this happens..... While I was waiting I thought I'd go through it all again. And it worked! Can't explain it. I guess I must have done something differently, any way it's working.

In case it helps anyone else, the intermittent 'no sim' on a new Nexus 5 was in my case not due to software or firmware, but lateral movment of the sim card in the tray. I noticed many people who had this problem mentioned they used an adaptor (nano micro). I also do. A piece of sellotape across the back and folded over the shortest long edge (i.e. adjacent to the 45 deg notch) solved the problem perfectly.

@Mic_ I don't know the specifics about Arch/Manjaro But I hope it's the same and you should have inputs in /var/log/syslog or with dmesg command when you plug the phone. So try this : 1- run the following command : tail -f /var/log/syslog 2- plug your phone in 3- wait until the error message (the popup you posted) 4- Ctrl-C to stop the tail command 5- run the following command in another terminal : dmesg If it's OK, you can copy the whole output from the first command and the end of the other one so we can have a look. If you have an error on one of the command then it's probably because your OS doesn't handle the logs the way I'm used to, so it'll require some internet search or someone who knows manjaro/arch.

@sojab0on Hands free doesn't work in Ubuntu Touch. Lots of users are frustrated by the absence of the feature. Bleutooth connection mostly works and the music audio protocol operates correctly. Speech conversation does not. It may be that the SCO channel capability is not enabled: or that it is enabled and not found: or that it is enables and found but that the necessary codec is not enabled or is not found... There may be a very simple fix but whatever the answer, it needs a mini project team of specialists - which we don't have. Hopefully such a team will form

@frapie I am afraid not, unless you install any of the several variants of Android on to it.

@romil Download the latest installer from here https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer for your system and install the latest UBports version of Ubuntu Touch. You appear to be running the old Canonical version of Ubuntu Touch for which support has stopped. We also have a French group if that is easier https://t.me/UBports_French and aWelcome and Install group if you need them too https://t.me/WelcomePlus. It might also be better to edit the title of this post to "Aquaris Tablet update " or such rather than just your user name use the three vertical dots to the right for options.

I found my way in a city; but, with google map app web client ... unav is very slowly, but, I take a screenshot of the way that I use on my road, for see where I turn left or right... But I held the phone upside down in my hand, to walk on certain streets, because the display is not really effective without a compass. I can't really see if I'm in the right direction at the navigation.

@poVoq said in I can't connect to mastodon any longer (uMastonauts): By the way, if anyone wants to work on an offline and multi account client for Mastodon, Pinaforce would be a really good base: https://pinafore.social/ Thanks for the suggestion! I just tried it with my account, it seems quite fast, and the scrollbar on the right side is wide enough to actually be able to use it! (so far I'd found nearly no usable scrollbars on UT because they were all so thin they're impossible to grab) I might make a webapp of it for myself with Webber.

@Giiba said in Australian mobile service providers dont accept ubuntu: You might as well of asked if Window 10 is compatible with their networks, the answer would be the same. Probably not. They likely support Surface tablets, and also likely provide data-only USB GSM devices for connecting a PC, as most providers do now. But most people working in such places also tend to have no idea what Ubuntu nor Ubuntu Touch even are, so their default response is of course "no, we don't support that" because they have no idea how they would support it.

Yes. We do not use apt for installing apps or packages, and the root filesystem is readonly. Open Store is the app for finding and installing apps on the phone.

@mito77 All I am suggesting is that as you are having a few bugs this one included is that to fix it rerunning the installer is a good option. In most cases issues like this are fixed by this method. You can then look for other reasons that may be causing the issue. Also please remember that UT is not and does not work as Ubuntu desktop for many reasons.

@Lakotaubp Its too late to remove account from app because app is factory reset (there is no account). I could try to login again but that was dummy account I doubt if I remember username and password. I dont need to use Matrix I just wanted to point out potential security/privacy issue (probably not on ubuntu side but concerning ubuntu users anyway)
