@freddo I see that files on system-image.ubports.com are stored with digital signatures, so, the situation is better here, but still requires implementing mechanism of choosing mirrors in installer software. I'll take a look at that soon. Thanks

EDIT: Although launching anything libreoffice-related from the Ubuntu Touch menu seems not to work, I managed to at least start LibreOffice Writer from command line in terminal. This was the way, maybe it helps someone else who is not a pro at libertine containers: Install Libertine Tweak Tool Set all options ON, especially the lirsh option. Install package libreoffice-writer in the default libertine container (called noble by default) by typing this in a re-launched terminal (to get the lirsh command): libertine-container-manager install-package -p libreoffice-writer Type in terminal: lirsh You will see something starting with (noble)... $ Launch LibreOffice by typing in terminal libreoffice or soffice. Note that no java (default-jre) was needed, neither libreoffice-java-common. I guess lirsh does some wonders here and sets the paths inside the libertine container. If one knows what lirsh does, it could be used to fix the LibreOffice launcher(s) in the main Ubuntu Touch menu. At time of testing, clicking on menus File, Edit etc does not produce any visible menu. But it is possible to type some text create a PDF and save it in /tmp folder, which actually is located in the real /tmp folder outside the libertine container. LibreOffice makes Ubuntu Touch unstable and the device restarts Lomiri causing a closure of every app in desktop mode.

@Sentinel Hi All, I'm just now running the install from within the waydroid helper app. Back on the stable OS it shows me that the dowload speed is around 200KB/s, the is about 900MB to download. So yes, a verry slow connection for this app... EJ

I have not read the whole thread. All these limitations will go away some day. OSM Scout Server can be triggered automatically in background when Pure Maps tries to reach it (via a systemd socket). So no need to manually disable app suspension, no need to manually start OSM Scout Server and no need to close it afterwards. All this is already supported by OSM Scout Server and Pure Maps and will be available once we got Systemd in UT. The OSM Scout Server will need to remain unconfined unfortunately.

You can set a custom ringtone in the settings app without copying them to the system directory. However, custom notification tone is not yet officially supported but you can do it in UT Tweak Tool which basically does the same thing as you did

a quick look at the dependencies file shows that qcom_common (iirc this is part of halium repos) and external_bson are needed, are you getting these with your repo sync? 32/64-bit at this stage is irrelevant, both are supported, and a 64-bit build can run 32-bit rootfs

Double-Tap Wake/Sleep feature on Android is very useful. I wish I could use the feature on UT.

@lduboeuf nope back to edge for me, these issues was the main reason that I have been using the devel channel for quite some time now and there is no reason for me to stay on devel anymore. And yes this is my daily driver so I probably going to need to carry a charger and/or powerbank in my pocket . @uwahl YES, great work, the developers are looking onto other things in the edge channel and things are moving, Keep up the great work you all. :clapping_hands:

@doniks No, the device/vendor part is not published to github by BQ or MediaTek unfortunately. It's why these devices are still using a very old recovery image build.

@emieza All devices that came with Android have to use the Android HAL via libhybris, and it does not provide access through traditional ALSA devices to Linux. Why are you trying to run jackd on the phone anyway?
