@hlbkv gnome software can handle debs and flatpaks (and on Ubuntu also snaps I think). The app itself is a deb, so it is not surprising that it can be installed. The apps that end up being able to be installed with it are probably also debs.

Just an update, I gave up on trying the KDEConnect workaround. I did some deep investigation on resolving the issue within Waydroid itself, and documented my progress. It's definitely a feature-request in Waydroid. https://github.com/waydroid/waydroid/issues/211 I haven't done any more work on it for a while, since my last post on github. There are a few libs being used in Waydroid, which I linked to, which have sparse documentation. I don't have deep enough knowledge of these languages and platforms to be able to fix this easily - not to mention android's workflow for builds. Wasn't able to do a build of LineageOS on my PC; some incompatibility with package versions. It'd be nice to resolve this for everybody who uses Waydroid, but IRL is taking priority for now.

@arubislander @Pulsar33 @Borim7 May I suggest one of you start a new thread as this one has gone seriously off topic from the original intent and your input which maybe helpful to others wont be found here. When you have I can move these posts to it so they are not lost. Thanks

@dobey I have filtered https connections for years without breaking the encryption, this is easy when the proxy is declared in the browser (non transparent proxy). What I want to do now is the same thing inside a smartphone running UT, to be able to filter Internet connections. So this is really an UT question because the proxy will be running inside the phone, I cannot have any control of connections running through 3G or 4G. I have already installed UT on my Nexus 5. I have already set up the filter with an internal DNS server (Unbound) and it works. But filtering with squid is slightly better and I would like to test it. @arubislander : thanks for the suggestion. But it is not a possible solution because if the proxy is not declared in the browser, the browser will encrypt itself the connection, and filtering is no longer possible. If the proxy is declared, the browser communicates with it without encryption (otherwise the proxy would be unable to do its job) and the proxy encrypts the connection if it does not have the page in cache and must forward the request.

@wgarcia Yes fighting for our right is challenging that's for sure. And most people just let it go. Politics is politics, you have to understand them to turn the odds in your favor. For your parking issue, I'll create a manifest for more transparency regarding the app so people can use alternative OS and ask for an alternative for people without a smartphone. If your mayor is deaf to these arguments then step 2 is to come to their political opponents and spread the word that the mayor is denying freedom to its citizen... About the university that's the same thing, it's just politics. See how lobbies can influence a university policy... Against Whatsapp we cannot fight it's just a matter of personal choices. Against what is forced to us we have a legitimate claim and leverage if we find that it's worth the trouble. Ok, I'll stop the plea here ; enough off topic from me Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Hi! Did you try to reflash the phone using twrp and the latest official .zip? Theoretically speaking it should be possible to copy the current upgrade https://www.oneplus.com/de/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1574156097213 onto a sd card or the internal storage of the phone. Flash the phone with twrp recovery ( https://twrp.me/oneplus/oneplusone.html) , reboot to recovery and flash the zip from within the twrp recovery.

@Erwin I had quite a similar bug when switched to OTA-11 recently. I had to deactivate MAC filtering, and then i could get connected, and then reactivated MAC filtering (then i registered MAC) and still worked.

Maybe some of these ideas will help? https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=209121 https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/droidcam/ Apparently there is a group already working on a solution to access the camera from the android HAL and present it to Linux: "provides a set of interfaces to libcamera for existing applications; they will include a V4L compatibility layer, an Android HAL interface, and a GStreamer interface. The intent is to make libcamera suitable for all Linux-based devices." https://lwn.net/Articles/794555/ https://libcamera.org/docs.html

@jjconstr said in Installing UT on N5 stuck in boot loop: @cela Thanks for the tips. They were helpful. I didn't have to check youtube. I used my fingernail to remove the back, took out some screws I didn't need to, lifted the battery connector and then the battery. Putting a new battery in didn't correct the boot loop though. I also poked and prodded the switch to see if it would loosen up and work. No deal. Looks like there is a small pin or shaft that the button pushes on when depressed. It doesn't look like it moves at this point. I appreciate your help! Thank you, jjconstr I guess I was one of lucky 1% that swapping out the battery worked for. Careful with the hot gun and shield any parts that might melt when you swap the switch, those switches are so tiny good luck.
