@hlbkv gnome software can handle debs and flatpaks (and on Ubuntu also snaps I think). The app itself is a deb, so it is not surprising that it can be installed. The apps that end up being able to be installed with it are probably also debs.

Just an update, I gave up on trying the KDEConnect workaround. I did some deep investigation on resolving the issue within Waydroid itself, and documented my progress. It's definitely a feature-request in Waydroid. https://github.com/waydroid/waydroid/issues/211 I haven't done any more work on it for a while, since my last post on github. There are a few libs being used in Waydroid, which I linked to, which have sparse documentation. I don't have deep enough knowledge of these languages and platforms to be able to fix this easily - not to mention android's workflow for builds. Wasn't able to do a build of LineageOS on my PC; some incompatibility with package versions. It'd be nice to resolve this for everybody who uses Waydroid, but IRL is taking priority for now.

Indeed, Nexus 5 is still a « promoted device » and is a mostly used smartphone with UT. (And it works really great )

Hi! We just had a similar case at https://forum.fairphone.com/t/ubuntu-touch-with-threema-on-anbox-where-are-the-files/53768/12 , a fairphone 2 running the stable channel. After changing to rc channel Anbox installation, that was stuck like in this case, could be completed, and now works. Perhaps you could give it a try? (if you are on stable, nobody knows but you...). But you left the forum; so we'll never know. I hope it helps in other cases.

@Mr-Smartyman well as soon as OTA 12 is out, you will have to close all apps to get to the "desktop" but maybe by OTA 13, you'll be able to get to the background by swiping and tapping, but I'm not so sure how thats working. Its not a priority because I don't think many people will be asking to get to the "desktop" as opposed to other more pressing issues, or desired features.

I tried a bunch of times with no luck. I finally went this route to export from my computer and import to my device. https://forums.ubports.com/topic/2987/import-contacts-to-ubuntu-touch?_=1586644152914 Worked great.

@redi sorry, but I really can't help you with that. You might want to raise an issue on the upstream conversejs repository: https://github.com/conversejs/converse.js/ Please mention that you are using ConverseJS 6.0.1 with my Ubuntu Touch wrapper. It might very well be a known issue given the complexities around OMEMO. I know that just recently a draft for the revision of the official OMEMO standard was submitted that among some other bigger problems tried to solve various multi-client edge cases. But to be honest, I would not expect it to be fixed any time soon

@magnolia_dudeFirstly glad your all sorted and enjoy Ubuntu Touch. Windows often throws a spanner in the works unfortunately. Things get lost during the process which is why we say to use the 15 sec adb version on windows and to remove other phone drivers. Why it happens I'm not sure, I never had an issue once I had 15 sec adb installed but others have. Some don't even need the 15 sec version. Which is what makes it awkward when adding or not adding info to the install instructions. Still maybe something to keep in mind. The snap version of the installer is in my opinion the easiest version to use and you can watch progress in the terminal.

@rik IDK about RPI, so maybe a stupid question, but what channel are you on ? There is no problem with swiping in OTA11 and RC channel AFAIK. So it's probably device specific or hardware related...

@xkvr That sounds like the battery is playing up. I had one that did the same. Please check it is charging fully. Mine would say 50% all the time even after 24 hrs on charge which is a common OPO issue. A new battery fixed mine.

@archerbob said in Questions on the use of Ubuntu Touch: Can I use Windows apps on Ubuntu Touch? Can I install & run PC Games? Can I use WINE? In terms of all of these, it's really not about Ubuntu Touch, but about what you're running it on. In any case, Ubuntu Touch is not Windows, so you can't directly run Windows apps on any architecture. With the very experimental amd64 qemu image build, you can run Ubuntu Touch on a PC (however lacking the experience may be currently, due to a lack of touch interface there), and can theoretically install Steam, WINE, and other things inside libertine and run them, though the performance or usability may not be ideal. Otherwise, not really, no. Phones/tablets are generally made with ARM architecture CPUs, which are not compatible with x86 binaries. Remember, just because you can plug in an external monitor, and have an interface similar to your typical PC, a phone is still not a PC. Can I use Ubuntu Touch to remote to another PC (Windows/Linux) and control that PC via Ubuntu Touch? Theoretically yes. There is no native VNC/RDP app in the Open Store yet, that I know of, but if there were, you could use it to do so. Beyond that, you can however use ssh to connect to a remote Linux system and do things on the terminal (X forwarding will not work yet, as Ubuntu Touch does not use X, and Xwayland is not yet working on UT).

@kugiigi Thank to you, don't know if that's linked but everything is fine now, history.sqlite-journal disappeared, some messages went nowhere, but now it's ok!!! Maybe the history.sqlite-journal was a "work in progress" by the phone to restore this quite big database files (186Mio total, 1700 files in attachment).

@suoko This thread is two years old. Your much better off asking a fresh question in the appropriate section of the forum. However UT is not a zip and has never been one. I'm going to lock this thread now, but you can refer back to it in any new question using the weblink e.g https://forums.ubports.com/topic/669/is-it-possible-to-flash-ubuntu-touch-without-an-installer/21 Thanks
