The following desktop apps are working ok in OTA12 via Libertine in my tests (meaning that they launch and can, with some work arounds and patience with the clunkiness of their guis when used on mobile devices, generally made to function), and all offer some amount of functionality that is not necessarily already found with UT native apps. For apps that much more suited for desktop, like AbiWord and GIMP, I would suggest using them with an external keyboard/mouse/trackpad and/or external display. abiword - word processor file-roller - archive manager evince - pdf viewer firefox - web browser gimp - image editor gthumb - image gallery & editor gedit - text editor medit - text editor gtick - metronome for musicians youtube-dl - command line YouTube video downloader - run in Terminal app hardinfo - system information & benchmark tester xournal - note taking via touch, stylus or text; pdf annotator mypaint - illustration - note it is somewhat laggy and crash prone though easytag - id3 tag editor for audio files p7zip-full - command line archive manager for 7zip files p7zip-rar' - command line archive manager for rar files mpv - media player - open files into it from the File Manager app Best regards, Steve Berson

@dobey Just to add what you mentioned, there is also an issue with Mobile updates in the background gobbling up cycles and RAM, when combined with say the zoom app, running multi-party or even 2 party, these items take longer and can/will slow foreground tasks, like screen sharing where the host is displaying/reading from local storage, or worse yet sharing tight VNC view to help someone with a support issue, lots of nasty secondary and exception use cases out there, and a few primary which will quickly hamper the foreground task. The solution is software int. controlled write to local storage , which uses per process/app queuing, concatenation of the session write blocks, then single block session write to store... to get within 95% of the actual media write speed... , this works w/ VRAM setups as well, when you are RAM constrained, the VRAM block writes by the OS get super fast, It's what we do at cloudprox.com on Ubuntu in the DCs and Colo space at the moment (to actually get remote workplaces to work at scale with fast IOPS/Gbsec without breaking the bank) , we are looking at how to bring the same fast write functionality on to Mobile and IOT devices, as it is indeed the choke point for everything, and will easily turbocharge ubuntu touch environs by at least 5X plus your media lasts 5X to 30X longer, and you use significantly less battery, it's the OS juggling between threads and processes which kills your battery life. r2

It would improve the forum, though it sounds like a major rework.

@CiberSheep Yes, more recent but also more general It lacks some technical details like this diagram :[image: 1589805598649-ut_achitectural_diagram.png] (Replace 14.04 by 16.04) I like it because it makes me feel like I get it.

Yeah i've seen that one, might give it a go i guess i am wondering what the home container actually is, and how/if it could host a container for QML or even HTML, without having to pull apart the entire unity code to figure it out (like putting an iframe into webpage) or recompiling lots of things canonical used to havea comprehensive list of all parts of UT, that you could search through fairly easily, cant see a way to do that now (my laptop doesnt have the space to dl the entire thing from github lol)

@PhoenixLandPirat Its all about how the device identifies itself on the USB bus. If it identifies as headphones it doe snot matter how it is internally working. If it identifies itself as soundcard for example thats another story.

@Flohack, Windows 7 is out of support. I think it's fair for us to say "if you're still using it, you need to figure out which ADB drivers will work with your device and setup."

@pixelated Yes. There is no sudo or su available in the container, because it is unprivileged and will not work.

@KrishneshG Please do not flood the Forum with bug reports or feature requests, they will get lost here. If you feel something is ready enough to be a bug ofr feature, please bring it up on the main issue trackers for Apps and Ubuntu Touch in general. Apps are partially on Gitlab: https://gitlab.com/ubports/apps, the main tracker for UT is here: http://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch and you can also search through our repos at http://github.com/ubports for the other core apps that are not on Gitlab.

Actually, I believe it's a single tap to auto-complete in the terminal and double-tap to see all possible matches of there's too many.

Thank you. If you check the GitLab of the project, you'll see there's already an issue opened: https://gitlab.com/ubports/apps/filemanager-app/-/issues/41 You can find all core apps in: https://gitlab.com/ubports/apps and in github.com/ubports/ It's easier for developers to have the issues there

You cannot meaningfully judge if an app will suit your needs just by the screenshots now, can you?
