@kugiigi That makes sense. I had the original release on it a long time ago, then wiped it for LineageOS (Android 7.1.2) with a decent SD card and a lot of swapping. Now - I cannot find the original release based on Ubuntu 13.x anymore sadly! Was hoping to be able to use a new version... or even find the original ROM to flash haha.

Unity7 and more so Unity8 should have revolutionized the computing experience. We all knew where we would find the menus, no matter whar application, no pushing the mouse from one corner to the next just to start an app. Open the main menu left corner down the bottom. The apps are at the top. The one that you are looking for is usually on page 3, even though you're using it daily. The save button is on the top right whereas the cancel button is at the top left. It is an ergonomical nightmare. Unity is the reason why I made the decision for Ubuntu.

KDE Connect is a multi-platform application developed by KDE, which facilitates wireless communications and data transfer between devices over local networks. KDE Connect is available in the repositories of many Linux Distributions and F-Droid, Google Play Store for Android

@domubpkm The majority of devices are eol after two years, i.e. they lose support from the manufacturer for Android updates and security patches even though they are still viable hardware wise. LineageOS, UT and others fill the gap to stop these devices going to landfill and quite rightly so. The Nexus 4 is a great example, a nine year old device that still going with UT and has a really good battery as some are dated 2013 and still bhold a good charge.

As @Keneda said your device needs its own port. There are links to the info on the forum but it is not easy. Have moved your post to OT for now but will move back uf you start porting.

@silviuxgaming If you can't find a porting thread about this device on the forum, or a device page in ubports device list, then for now, no UT for this device yet. Try to search on XDA, there are sometime ported devices that pops there before reaching here.

In general Huawei / Honor is a pain to port since the younger models cannot be unlocked, and also they probably miss a well organized build tree since Huawei just wants to keep all things secret. If you want to port a phone I would look for smth else, seriously. BR Florian

@mrt10001 Will have a think. Device specific issues or processes might also be best in the individual device section on https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io or when using the installer perhaps? If you see any posts you think are suitable let us know the only other thing i have found is that most of the information is never in one thread but spread accross many but let see.

I looked into these, it can be done, but there are issues with power management, wifi and touchscreen. I honestly don't know why companies brick their devices apart from forcing you to buy new and putting the defunct one into landfill.

I was expecting a console command. Yes, it's face-to-face. @Cibersheep is this offtopic? @loops, he could be my boss, for example.

@ahmedshah said in Looking for redmi note 5 OS: can you make for my device ( REDMI NOTE 5 ) ? No, I cannot do such things. And please read this. People from the community are the people who usually make ports (a port is a specific version of Ubuntu Touch for a device); the person making the port needs to own the device. So if you want someone to make a port, they either need to have one or you need to give them one. Or you could learn how to do it yourself. It will probably take several months. Basically: please do not ask people to make a port for your device. It's a lot to ask.
