    @Shadowbird2468 It was proven possible, but, due to different processor architectures, running desktop apps on mobile phone would require emulation layer. And, due to most games were made for windows, it requires running it through x86 Wine. And, due to differences in graphics APIs, it also requires using OpenGL to GLES translation where it is present. In fact some progress has been made at this direction. Several emulators exist for Android (and might work in Waydroid as well), there's at least one application related to that in OpenStore, and there's already Steam distribution for ARM in snap store. Don't know about graphics api translation though.

    @archie3d It uses the system libsdl2-dev from the ubuntu-sdk-20.04 clickable framework and for that framework the SDL2 package is 2.0.10+dfsg1-3 on Focal/arm64 ...i tend to find even if your building for a newer version of UT you still have to use older packages because there is a break it seems in the versions and packaging being updated? ..idk i do know every time i try to build with newer repos something breaks ....

    @developerbayman We agree on that point. It’s a game-changer for projects carried out in people’s spare time.

    @arubislander so on the regular desktop version its a normal ubuntu boot stack then it hands off into the UT rootfs .....still not done ...taking a break on that for sanity rn

    @No-iOS-Android It's still probably coming but I would guess the enthusiasm isn't high because it lacks the wired display out feature which isn't essential but makes older Fairphone models great targets for UT as a user and as a developer.

    @gpatel-fr thank you for the mkv samples! @gpatel-fr said: this 'Microsoft MPEG-4 4.2' is probably the same thing as your '10 bit support'. not really, the issue is definitely the bit depth of the video, correlated with the format profile. Higher definition videos such as H.264 AVC "High 10" profile (using mediainfo) : Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : **High 10@L3.1** Format settings : CABAC / 5 Ref Frames Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, Reference frames : 5 frames Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 46 s 0 ms Width : 1 024 pixels Height : 576 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 24.000 FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : **10 bits** Scan type : Progressive Writing library : x264 core 165 r3222 b35605a Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=5 / deblock=1:0:0 / analyse=0x3:0x113 / me=hex / subme=8 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.00 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=2 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=1 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=18 / lookahead_threads=3 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / interlaced=0 / bluray_compat=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=2 / b_adapt=1 / b_bias=0 / direct=3 / weightb=1 / open_gop=0 / weightp=2 / keyint=250 / keyint_min=24 / scenecut=40 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=50 / rc=crf / mbtree=1 / crf=18.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=0 / qpmax=81 / qpstep=4 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:1.00 Default : Yes Forced : No Color range : Limited Color primaries : BT.601 NTSC Transfer characteristics : BT.709 Matrix coefficients : BT.601 To reproduce this, you can use ffmpeg to enforce a higher bit depth on any of these samples: ffmpeg -i test5.mkv -c:v libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p10le -crf 18 -preset slow -c:a copy test5_10bit.mkv and confirm it does not play on the UT player, despite desktop OSs having no issue playing it (at least that's my experience). It does, as you suggested, play on (libertine) mpv or vlc, so it seems like a limitation of the default player (I'd open a bug on the app repository, but can't seem to find it for the media player).

    OnePlus phones are very hard to brick. They can be recovered using the msmDownloadtool usually included with the image on the UT device's webpage. If it isn't, xda-developers has them, for every OnePlus model.

    @Kadafi err, @arubislander asked you to download, while you clicked on 'install'. That's not the same thing and clicking to download allows precisely to test if the mere act of downloading is blocked or if the downloading works fine but UT crashes while installing. Once the file is downloaded (a file with extension of '.click') it's possible to install it by navigating to the folder and selecting it. UT asks you then to open with the store. This separates the 2 operations that the standard store installer bundles into one (for convenience, but it makes debugging more difficult).

    @Moem Yes, its light and very thin! But I remember now why I have'nt used it for a long time. The main camera is broken. Found a sparepart for 15$. So a bit of surgery is required. Another thing that is much easier on older hw.. According to the "Features & usability" chart, there are a few issues. But everything seems to work fine for me, charging, gps, microphone even the notification led. thumbs up

    @oldbutndy Glad its helpful to someone. To quote Murina directly: "Regarding the re-flash service, it is currently only available in the EU. In the US, it is only offered for Fairphone 6 devices purchased from Murena. I understand that this device is a Fairphone 5 model, and Murena has never sold the Fairphone 5 in the US. If the device can be shipped to the original purchaser, or if you are located in the EU, I may be able to arrange the re-flash service for a fee of €99. All shipping costs would need to be covered by the customer. The 99 Euro fee will still apply even if the reflash does not restores the device's state to its original one." So essentially, if you own a Fairphone 5 in the US, or didnt buy it directly from them, they are not helping you. In addition if they do help you, they are charging more than Fairphone themselves for the exact same service.
