RE: personalize your device, login avatar
@derbaertigefrytz Moem's reply was fact based. AFAIK UT only has one user - phablet, there is no option to create other users so no need for personalized avatars etc. It may be added at some stage if there is enough demand but it has been this way for many years.

RE: phablet / root password
@bestenaizena Have you tried 'settings', 'Security & Privacy' -> 'Locking and Unlocking' -> 'Lock security' -> 'Change passcode'?

RE: Fresh reinstall of Openstore failed
@uwahl Could it related to this problem?
https://forums.ubports.com/topic/1636/reinstall-music-app?_=1760454418329
I think Openstore is a pre-installed app like Music. You could try deleting the sym link and rebooting as stated in the Music app problem.

RE: What are a few straightforward ways to write notes in Ubuntu Touch and be able to get them on the Internet/WWW on my Debian PC?
@Opolork I know it is very low tech, but if you want siimple have you tried sending yourself an email?

RE: The terminal APP give a read-only shell
@linuxlion Ubuntu Touch is a read only file system to stop clowns like me breaking it by doing something stupid. You have no idea how 'inventive' I can be.
If you are more experienced you can make the system read/write either from the command line or you can use the UT Tweak Tool from the Openstore to do it. Just be careful what you do.
I believe that apt Is not supported/recomended.

RE: No redirect to guest login for wifi
@RJDan I had this problem and asked if anyone here on the forum had any suggestions.
I think the answer I got was to try to open an example domain by typing html://example.com/ in the search bar on the browser.
It somehow sorts things out..... but it was some time ago and I may have miss remembered.

RE: How to take screenshot?
@ygrex On my Vollaphone X running 20.04 OTA 9 it works as expected. Pressing volume up and down together gives a camera shutter noise and the screenshot appears in Gallery.

RE: How can I have Vietnamese keyboard?
@AppLee But surely labeling them to remove confusion could be a good idea

-
RE: How can I have Vietnamese keyboard?
@AppLee In that case shouldn't there be 2 entries in the settings menu under 'language and text' for:-
Physical (external) keyboard layout
OSK keyboard layout
As it is going back from the physical layout, just labeled 'keyboard layout' takes you to the 'language and text' settings menu.... from where 'keyboard layout' takes you to the OSK keyboard layout menu.
No wonder people get confused.

RE: How can I have Vietnamese keyboard?
@lduboeuf That makes sense. Thank you for the clarification.

RE: How can I have Vietnamese keyboard?
@AnhVu Facinsting. If you drag from the left of thre screen and open 'settings' then click on 'language and text' and then on 'keyboard layouts' you get a restricted list of possible keyboards.
If you pull down from the top of the screen, scroll across and select 'keyboard' and then click on 'keyboard settings' you get a much BIGGER list of keyboards.
Try that and let us know how you got on.

RE: How can I have Vietnamese keyboard?
@AnhVu Did you try scrolling down?
I have pages full of keyboards on my Vollaphone X running OTA 8.

RE: Default sudo password?
@kugiigi If that has happened would the easiest way out be to reinstall with the option to wipe user data unticked? Then start up and set password/passphrase?
-
RE: Default sudo password?
@drbsin Does your passphrase include any spaces?
-
RE: Default sudo password?
@drbsin Strange, it works for me. I just tried it on my Vollaphone X and I'm fairly sure it worked on my Nexus 5 and my BQ Aquaris 5.
The same passcode or passphrase you use to access the terminal should work for sudo.
-
RE: Default sudo password?
@drbsin Whatever you set as your paassphrase on first run. The pincode you use to unlock the phone.
