@hlbkv gnome software can handle debs and flatpaks (and on Ubuntu also snaps I think). The app itself is a deb, so it is not surprising that it can be installed. The apps that end up being able to be installed with it are probably also debs.

Just an update, I gave up on trying the KDEConnect workaround. I did some deep investigation on resolving the issue within Waydroid itself, and documented my progress. It's definitely a feature-request in Waydroid. https://github.com/waydroid/waydroid/issues/211 I haven't done any more work on it for a while, since my last post on github. There are a few libs being used in Waydroid, which I linked to, which have sparse documentation. I don't have deep enough knowledge of these languages and platforms to be able to fix this easily - not to mention android's workflow for builds. Wasn't able to do a build of LineageOS on my PC; some incompatibility with package versions. It'd be nice to resolve this for everybody who uses Waydroid, but IRL is taking priority for now.

Thanks for your detailed answers, which I really appreciate. I already have a ChromeCast 3 dongle which I used for an Android phone, and found out yesterday, that to use Chromium on PMOS has become easy. On my Windows PC, it was also very easy to mirror the screen over a ChromeCast to HDMI. I currently have VNC server connection between PinePhone and PC, but I think a WIFI to HDMI solution would be better. If I would buy a new device, I would prefer the Miracast standard, although I don t know whether desktop mirroring is as easy as with the Chrome browser. I am also positive now about LibreOffice on the PinePhone. Jacob Crume, a Robotics student in New Zealand used linux-based PinePhone daily for a year: https://news.itsfoss.com/pinephone-review/ He used four desktop environment, Plasma Mobile, Phosh and Lomiri, he spent roughly four months with each environment. He was surprised at how capable the PinePhone was as a laptop. He said he often found myself editing documents in LibreOffice. That is good news.

@peter-gamma There is NO such thing at the moment. The only two ways to use a transparent solution is whether to use the slimport cable and a Nexus 5, or to use Miraclecast, as discussed in the thread where you decided to start that one. Sadly, it seems miraclecast uses a protocol that is not fully recognized by UT. Last thoughts: if privacy is what you're looking for, I wouldn't be too scared of the Miracast dongle. While Google likes to be perpetually online, and usually stores voice and other data, the Miracast is actually an old thing by industry standards, from a time where sharing your whole life with the www for money was really not a thing (that is, before Windows 10). I think it's pretty safe to use, especially offline

@doniks For the Google Chrome we think it would be possible to start a thread which is as long as this tread here about the Miracast: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/7807/google-chromecast-installation-on-ubuntu-touch For the Miracast, it has been evaluated how it works on Ubuntu Touch. Unfortunately, we already have a Chromecast adapter. It is worth buying a Miracast and sell the Chromecast on ebay?

@moem said in Can I use the Axolotl (Signal) OpenStore app with the Signal Flatpak on Debian?: Is there even a separate desktop application for Axolotl? I know that it can run on a desktop/laptop.. https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.nanuc.Axolotl

@Keneda if i understand correctly @FelixTC want to install samba server on his phone, and other topics are about using file manager as samba client. I'm also attempting to install samba, but it's hard, you can't use apt install more here https://askubuntu.com/questions/1271175/ubuntu-touch-how-do-i-apt-get-install and i tried to do this trick with sudo mount -o, remount,rw / but i don't recommend it. In my case it broke only thing which you can use to run apt install - Libertine Containers. In those container i was able to install samba and configure it, but for now i cannot connect to it, even using localhost

@emphrath : I checked the info on the website of my provider. Apparently their site has several help items on the subject 'APN settings'. Not all advise the same settings! I will check the settings I haven't tried yet, but it will have to wait till next time I visit the country Thanks for your help

I found the solution, it was enough to delay the execution for a few seconds : #!/bin/sh /bin/sleep 10 ; /usr/bin/ubuntu-app-launch uhome.pavelprosto_uHome_0.9.0 no need to start teleport (it is already running) I put in autostart Home screen [image: 1654437482010-screenshot20220605_155256263.png]

@ub A MAC address is not hardcoded in silicon. Have you heard of mac spoofing? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_spoofing It's an attack method used to usurp a legitimate device's identity (MAC address)... mac spoofing is also necessary for a VM where a single physical device has many virtual ones to differentiate them we need to change their mac address. So yeah probably hardcoded in the N5's port.

@arubislander @Keneda Mission accomplished! Card is now installed and working in Lenovo TB-X605F. Thanks for your help. I had some mechanical problems. Was difficult to see what I was doing. At one point I realised the card slot was empty. I remembered having a problem with a Raspberry Pi when the micro sd card pinged out on the floor. So I searched on the floor with a torch and sure enough there was the missing card. I seated it in the card carrier, inserted it in the Lenovo tablet and was greatly relieved to find that all my files were accessible. Happy ending!

@keneda Great stuff, Have found that weak batteries cause all sorts of weird issues, probably due to the inability to power the more power hungry components, such as speakers, the buzzer and even the screen with dead touch issues, mainly around the edge.

@thknker You could have a look at the last few posts on this thread below to check the size of your hosts file to help to confirm it is set up okay. https://forums.ubports.com/topic/7377/why-uadblock-currently-no-longer-works/22 I think you should be able to see the hosts file from 'file explorer' in /mydevice/etc/, it should be a few MB in size.

@mschmids It worked, I updated uAdblock with only the youtube block and that did the trick. Now it only remains to figure out which list was the culprit... Thanks!
