@kamstartech
Hi, and thanks for your efforts.
You can start by having a look there: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/2068/halium-first-steps
And you might find some help in the porting category of this forum: https://forums.ubports.com/category/33/porting
@Flohack I've just seen that UBports now has its own online shop (https://ubports.com/shop).
Nevertheless, I must inform you that EnVenteLibre has agreed in principle to integrate UBports in its online shop which already integrates more than a dozen projects in the field of free software/ciluture (https://enventelibre.org/en/).
So, please let me know if you think it would be interesting to increase the visibility and popularity of UBports Foundation to also use this community store.
@poVoq said in Observations on battery life - please share your experiences:
Well, given that there is still some battery charging stuff running, even when the main OS is turned off, maybe there is an firmware issue of some sort? Could anyone else with a Nexus5 try and see what happens with a turned off device?
Small update on this: it appears my Nexus5 isn't powering down the wifi chip on shut-down. So if I make sure there is no connection before shutting it down the battery doesn't drain nearly as fast when turned off. Is this something that might be a specific UT issue?
When I read the proposition of Lionel I thought about the most popular fully featured apps.
For me, requirements to get into this kind of repository should be something like:
UT app (port of existing app to UT, native app)
Popularity the user base should be large enough to draw developers/designers to contribute
Of course popularity is hard to define, but I agree that some advanced apps should benefit from the visibility given by the foundation to help find people to contribute.
I also agree with @dobey that the separation should be clear between community apps, core apps and the OS.
Problems are who could be in charge of the gitlab, how to manage access rights, etc.
I have very little knowledge of how it can be done.
Meanwhile if a developer cannot continue maintaining their app, the forum is a good place to call for a new maintainer and ask for help to keep a nice project alive.

Btw, sorry for the typo at the title, when I was about to change it someone flagged my post as spam and now it says I can't edit the post because it's been too long since I posted it.
It wasn't flagged as spam. But as you're a new member of the forum there are more strict rules about posting and editing posts.
You'll get through it soon I guess and you'll be able to edit your posts later.
@x-Dub
Well QML and JavaScript works well together so it's not a technical problem IMHO.
Or maybe you're like me an know almost nothing to JS
What I'm afraid of is the necessary dependencies that the library will bring.
Web techno are out of my league because it moves too fast for my taste.
If you try the adventure, you'll find help here or on Telegram.
Thank you for appreciating the OS and congrats on your new device or toy
Ubuntu Touch is very functional however, it has been running on android-based devices for many years and the Pinephone is quite different in terms of hardware so there are still many things that normally work in UT but not yet on the pinephone. So we hope you have patience and have a good time during the process .
Also, I think it's also good to try out other distros using the sd card. That's the beauty of the Pinephone
I think in one of the previous Q&A it was discussed what to do with the money raised through the PinePhone campaign. It certainly will not be used to employ someone, but they mentioned that some freelancers could be paid from it.
Anyone has an update on that?
@cliffcoggin If you know people who want to talk to you, ask them to install Signal Messenger https://www.signal.org/ available for all platforms Android, Apple, Microsoft, Linux... You should use Axolotl then - so you can chat with your people.
I hope Axolotl will get some love in near future - Pinephone is out :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:
@poVoq
Ok, you'll have to be more specific about the burden, because I cannot fathom what they can be.
And I totally agree that everyone is welcome to contribute with their background and personal interest so we can achieve great things.
Indeed, it is not a German dialect, but it is most definitely a Germanic language, along with Frisian, English, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and of course German. If I missed a few, to the people who feel slighted, please accept my apologies.
I haven't tried to run desktop applications from Libertine, so have no experience here.
For command line apps libertine-container-manager exec and libertine-launch commands works for me.
Have you tried running ubuntu-app-launch <CONTAINER_ID>_<desktop_file_name>_0.0 command (from the docs)?
