DeltaTouch is one of my favorites in the Open Store. It’s the perfect way to replace any messaging app. There are also excellent DeltaTouch apps for iPhone and Android. It’s hard to convince parents and kids to use DeltaTouch. That’s because WhatsApp has integrated “Channels” into its app since 2023. What are “Channels”? They’re kind of like OnlyFans for kids and teens.

@libremax This represents a change of direction (as I understand it). Eric H, who is one of the testers, was just as surprised as I was by this announcement. To be continued... I’m not complaining; the Brax3 is a great phone and IodéOS is a great AOSP. I hope the porting can continue (the latest image didn’t allow the phone to be used for making calls).

@hacknorris said: on laptop i mostly use pixelorama You probably don't see it because you are on noble, but if you can port it or find someone willing to do it this exists under xenial : https://open-store.io/app/pixelorama.orama-interactive You can also try to force install it on noble but with high risk of malfunctions.

@gpatel-fr i'd say its more general experience coding/compiling, i will say the real barrier right now is enough ram to compile and have a few browser tabs open.
  • Forwarding SMS messages when cell signal unavailable ?

@oldbutndy said geometry dash: Anyone know of a way to forward SMS messages to 2nd phone number, when main number is unavailable (weak cell, airplane mode, etc) ? After many weeks of asking questions (here and Google) regarding voice calls over WiFi, considering software solutions and mixed (hardware / software) solutions, I finally had the sense to ask about voice call forwarding to second phone which has functional WiFi calling. Google said 'possible'. Carrier said 'we support that'. [just requires 2nd phone line, and phone, and remembering to keep it charged. tedious but workable]. I set it up & tested it. Seems to work ! So, now the last critical problem is no SMS over WiFi, when cell signal is too weak. My requirement is communication with 'average' user, who has only OEM android or ios messaging installed on their phone. That rules out asking everyone I need to communicate with to add and learn new apps. Asking google about that, answer was that any SMS forwarding solution would be linked to WiFi calling. Can anyone shed light on options here ? or UT plans or progress (testing status, etc) ? Standard SMS can’t be conditionally forwarded like calls when your phone is unreachable—carrier forwarding usually only works for voice, not texts. Your best options are enabling Wi-Fi Calling + SMS over Wi-Fi (if your carrier/phone supports it), or using services like Google Voice or call/text forwarding apps that mirror SMS to another device. Otherwise, your antenna solution (or adding a signal booster) is the most reliable workaround without changing how others contact you.

@Bolly Not harsh at all. But we had to go through the process of warning the user and seeing where things went. Where they went warranted intervention. The situation has now been dealt with and we have posted our stance on the matter going forwards.

@tacofeast Yes, welcome! It takes some considerable work to get Ubuntu Touch working on a given phone. There are no ports of Samsung phones at present, and porting is done by community members like yourself. So to see UT running on those phones, you'd need to do the work, or find others interested in sharing that work. There's documentation on porting on the UBports website. Alternately, there'd a list of already supported devices, and perhaps you could find one available used to test out the OS.
