Concerning 2, Textsecure is not available in the Openstore but you can install it from the Ubuntu Store.

There is no development going on currently on this app. A call for a new developer has been launched on this forum but unfortunately there has not been any response yet. I would love to see its continued development so I really hope someone will take it on.

I used the version available in the Ubuntu Store on my Nexus 4. It worked fine and I could message friends who have Signal installed on Android and iphones. However, it does not want to work on my Nexus 5. If you are using a Nexus 5, it would be interesting to know if it works for you.

This is not a feature of the vpn provider, more the vpn software on the individual device. I have PIA and on my android devices I have it set (in the PIA software itself) to only allow Internet traffic when going through the vpn. I have been looking into vpn''s a bit on touch and do not believe that this feature is available yet.

Maybe this could be one of the OTA3 feature requests. Either way I would raise it as a feature request in girhub. That way it is recorded and toy can see the progress.

@Mitu I think even 1.5 would be better than what it currently is.

Thought that may be the case but thought I would check. Will be good when the address book comes.

To the person who marked me down, why on earth for just asking a question ? Is this the kind of forum we want to run here where people are afraid of asking questions in the fear of someone marking them down?

@Lakota thanks. I do feel though it was a bit of an "RTFM' error on my part 🙂

It's not unlikely that i have misunderstood scopes, but isn't the whole point to display as little information as possible but enough for the user to know it will be worth while to open specific application(s)? Just that + some simple things like time, date etc. 🙂

Let's cut the Ubuntu rope getting a complete different name. We are not a subdivision of Canonical!
    How about Ubantu? 😉

Thinking about something with pirates because it's bad ass just like I feel when using Ubuntu Touch.
Unfortunately Black Flag is already taken.
Pirate OS is too obvious, kinda childish. Good name for a raspberri pi operated mobile.
How about Keelhaul? Or Mutiny which is also a geeky reference to the TV Show "Halt and Catch Fire"? Think that was also considered for Yunit afaik.
Peg Leg MOS (MOS == mobile operating system), three "words" with 3 letters - sounds catchy.

I wish to commend the Ubports team, as well as the community, for the sterling work done in OTA 2.

However, after upgrading I do have the updated boot spinner only the UT boot. Also, there is no flaslight toggle in the battery indicator. Meizu Pro 5.

@Tobisch No its all done via the PC. Install the magic device tool on the PC and use the terminal. Look up the magic device tool pages on git hub or in your PC browser and all you need comes up.
All other system and app update come straight through to your device.

I agree that IBM have done a lot to allow 3rd parties in, and also Microsoft have done a lot to simplify for us developers. Same there though, i'm not a Microsoft fan either. 🙂

Nevertheless, i also think that people developing for phones exaggerate how bad it is on phones. There are a lot of similarities between phones as well. Many use the same soc:s and probably also are based on the same development kits. Displays are also many times very similar although different brands, I think probably the baseband is the most difficult part, which is quite essential on a phone of course, but hopefully not all the drivers would have to be closed in one big blob the way it is now. I guess it's fair to say that this is all goes into kind of defacto standards, which makes it essentially different from the PC, but i do think it is possible benefit a lot by focusing on the similarities.

    @UKPhil said in Original devices:

You never know we may be lucky enough one day for both phones to be moved to the core list and then the fun can begin.

I also have a E4.5, but for sure, this will never happen, because those devices don't have enough power to handle what is needed.
The devices don't have HDMI out.
The RAM is way to small for having a smooth running system with full convergence.
The processor is so slow, that it can not be used with a decent workflow.
It's just impossible to use those devices, for that what UBports can do all.

Something like, you will use a "Pentium 1" PC with 512 MB RAM and install Ubuntu 17.04. Well, there will be no fun 😉
