The 5X is already being worked on by the Halium team, but is not generally recommended in the community due to its flash hardware defect. I've got one and I'm waiting for it to die in the next few months.
@guru I agree that a mailing list provides a type of interaction different from the forum and the Telegram group, and that it would be good to have it, if posssible.
The most important thing to me is privacy. Not to be in the hand of Google or apple or windows or anyone else.
It haven't to be mainstream, but it have to respect me.
It is also important to me to use my device as long as I want, secure. And not have to by a new device. (I know this is kind of not realistic because it is in the nature of the things that operating systems need more powered devices when the develloping is going on)
In this context a verry huge thank you to the people of ubports and halium.
Hi,
Thanks for the flowers. But the project should not honor a single person for their credit. Its the community that makes it big. I would not accept a name similar to mine, nor I would assume leadership.
We are preparing another way to give the project a structure and more focus. Watch todays Q&A for more infos 🙂
Yes, I know about the GPG validation chain, and I'm confident about the communication phone-server and vice versa for the official issues, so to speak.
I'm more interested in how to check integrity when downloading one of these images [0] directly, or in the security check of all those apps people are developing and uploading to the openstore, and things like that [1]. That's why I asked about the plan to keep UBports secure.
That is a great shame as if it will not work, it is one area where our good old phone os is behind what is out there currently. I personally feel that things like this should work.
I personally think that dual boot is good for a start but I do not think it is the long term answer. I loved dual boot on my laptop as it gave me a chance to play with Ubuntu with knowing I had the safety net of being able to go back to windows when I wanted. However, with phones it may not work as well as you generally want continual access to your app such a scat and email. The long term answer is to make something nice and new, something different and most of the time that means not android or apple. Also the as that people need and use need to be made available on touch.
If you would like to discuss the reasons for your ban, please e-mail me. I promise that I will share your with the rest of the team if it makes you feel better. dalton at ubports dot com. Otherwise, your ban is not up for discussion in the public forum.
I'm locking this thread since it's gone so far off topic. Sorry to anyone who wanted to have useful discourse here.
I already said it in another thread, I don't want Android apps in UBports.
For those who want a mixed Android experience there's LineageOS, and for those who want a full Android experience there's, well, Android.
Please keep UBports as free as possible of Android and Google claws (yes I know about the mandatory layers that we can't avoid for now. Let's hope we'll be free from Google someday).
