    I was thinking a custom keyboard with macros could build on Malakiboard. I've cloned jerk-click, jerk-installer and jerk-packages in the hope of PRing some day. For now, thank you for making it easy for everyone to install these 'hacks' which I believe should and could become a part of UT!

Libertine Tweak Tool was good for resizing text on the app to a comfortably readable font on a phone screen, only thing missing now is modifier keys on the software keyboard, and a way to force the keyboard to appear inside of emacs for me: this is because the 'touch-to-click' compatibility system isn't always the most reliable, and a program like emacs is of course macro-heavy. My biggest way around the Desktop / Mobile syncing problem actually comes down to avoiding it as much as possible, by having my phone do (almost) everything, as syncing takes time while HDMI output to an external display is instant

    L.S., Ik ben ArubIslander. Al sinds 2013 volg ik de ontwikkeling van Ubuntu Touch. Ik heb destijds speciaal een Nexus 7 2002 WiFi editie tweedehands gekocht om daar de developer's release van UT op te installeren. Toen kon je er niet zoveel mee, maar het was spannend om een compleet nieuwe OS in je handen te hebben. Daarna heb ik achtereenvolgens de BQ 4.5, de BQ M10 FHD aangeschaft in het Canonical tijdperk. Toen het project door UBports werd overgenomen heb ik een Meizu 5 Pro op Marktplaats gescored omdat mijn andere devices niet mee zouden kunnen naar 16.04. Ik heb ook nog de PinePhone en de Pixel 3a gekocht speciaal om UT erop te draaien. Daarna vond ik dat het welletjes was met de apparatenmanie. Verder hang ik rond op het forum en in de Telegram groepen om een beetje op de hoogte te blijven van de laatste ontwikkelingen rondon het OS en het ecosysteem. En af en toe weet ik iemand op weg te helpen, als een ander me al niet voor is geweest.

    3600 seconds limit for edits? Really?!? Anyway, another attempt on a Mint Debian Edition computer instead of my usual minimal Devuan install gets further along. Hopefully it's ready within an hour so I can update my post. EDIT: flashing worked fine, also VoLTE is active now, which is nice.

The point I was trying to make is that a big part of being a leader is to priorize, and it's particularly important with a small project like UT, and thinking that priorization is easy is a very big mistake, leaders are not omniscient people who know miraculously how to best priorize. Putting a few dozen prople together to enumerate all what is bugging them is not so useful if no reasoning is done on why the points made are important from the point of view of wider adoption.

    @mirroronthewall Yes, this is surprisingly useful, as it means you don't always have to whip out a hardware keyboard, which defeats the point of the small form factor of a phone. Missing support for modifier keys is a big issue when using GUI apps in Libertine, as touch-to-mouse conversion often doesn't behave as it should and can get you 'stuck', so a fallback to keyboard shortcuts is just as necessary there as it may be useful in general: actually, your idea of creating macros for anything seems to solve many problems (including mine) at once, so congrats - now we just need to figure out how! The closest I've found is Ambot Installer: Hacks and Mods, although I need to set up a persistent amd64 QEMU instance on my arm64 laptop before I can allow myself to experiment with it freely (it's the only way I got the installer working). Other tools may be available but I have not been able to surface them yet, I will update this thread as I learn more about the issue and potential solutions. But, for some reason, as you just found, the file-picker doesn't work on GitHub page. So, I have to investigate and fix it. And until the fix is released, it looks like you can't upload files on GitHub, unfortunately.

    Hello, I am currently running Ubuntu Unity 24.04 with Unity 7.7 desktop. I was wondering if it is possible to install Lomiri alongside to play around with it and switch between Unity 7.7 and Lomiri from the LightDM. I tried running Lomiri on Debian 13 but it did not work with multi-monitor in my case and so I cannot change to Lomiri as a primary desktop until this is repaired (as I see from the website, this is "under construction", per se). I love Unity and love to see the future of how this desktop develops as Lomiri formerly Unity 8. Thank you!!

    @uxes That is a great program, but I heard that ATL relies on GTK. Which is not integrated into UT. And besides, list of supported apps is limited compared to Waydroid.

How to use the letter dialing: if you want to call someone whose name in your contacts is say 'fred idotme', press first 3 for f (3 is def) and then 7 for r (7 is pqrs) and the software will propose (among possibly other ones) the searched for contact. As was said I think in Tintin, it's obvious once you think of it. Ah the nostalgia of desktop software lost in the mists of time when there was a F1 key to get help. Apart of this, yes it works pretty well except that of course if you are trying to search for a number, as in my country all portable number begin by either 06 or 07 it's not so useful. And as you say, if you use a prefix like the #31# that is used in my country to be able to call someone without revealing your own, using the real number does not lead for a prediction; that is, if the contact is #31#0102030405, typing 0102 does not display the contact even if it's the only one matching on the real number. To be candid that's why I almost exclusively use the contacts list to call people
