For what it's worth, @linuxadopter, I'm very happy with my Nexus5 running UT.

I would like to add my voice in support of what @dobey said. I appreciate that the solutions we suggest are 'what worked for us' when we were facing a similar issue. And we feel it is better to give advice that we know will work from our own experience, because we can answer any follow-up questions about that. But we should consider the potential risk of our proposed solution to leave the device in a state needing a reinstall of the OS to resolve any mistakes. Not only is that a bad experience for the user, it also gives the impression that the OS is much more fragile than it actually is. So please, when questions come up where the answer is installing additional command line utilities from the standard repo's. Let's point them to the Libertine documentation first. Libertine works brilliantly for commandline utilities and apps. It's the graphical applications that are more of a hit or miss.

While I agree with those above that it is best to stay up to date, I also feel the OP should be aware that the two issues the OP mentions when using Ubuntu Touch will still be present in the lastest version. Bit that should not stop him from updating IMO.

@Giiba RAW is the format used by the sensor. It's not really A format type, just how the sensor handle the data ; it's proprietary to the sensor even if some de facto "standards" exist. So any camera supports RAW because this is how they work. The camera chip is also able to encode the picture or video to several formats. That's up to the driver and the app on top of it to ask for the desired format. In my experience every camera sensor I worked with worked the same, but my experience is not law, so maybe it can be different.

@chdslv Use the wipe option on the installer. It will remove everything though and give you a clean install.

Ubuntu Touch was an idea to provide the same basic experience and apps on both PCs and phones/tablets, which potentially could be a significant improvement in our experience with devices. But, going against the behemoth of those companies that engage in surveillance capitalism and only respect money (IE, have no respect for users), makes developing and putting forward such new and interesting innovations a huge challenge. Here's another video that is shorter. This one, rather than a speech, is a documentary with a more bullet-point style highlighting her main ideas. Recommended. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIXhnWUmMvw She describes how Google, then Facebook, and now a whack of others (including Ford Motor company) are moving away from trying to make compelling good products to sell to people, and instead are relying upon obtaining data about people to sell to business to better predict (and at times manipulate) buying patterns. It's largely done without our knowledge, and thus harms privacy rights. Further, because it is very lucrative, it takes away from the creation of decent new products, instead focusing a large amount of resources on obtaining data about users. Ford Motor Companies, for instance, could be working on developing a decent zero emission car. But instead, they are focusing on surveillance of and collection of data from their users, to then sell to other businesses. This trend is harmful to society as a whole, and harmful to people who find they are always being watched (often without even knowing it).

@MarkG_108 said in Have your own AI therapist on your phone!: @CiberSheep Hey, it worked! I rebooted my phone, and tried it out. After using the keyboard to enter "N" to the question, I used the provided return button with your app (rather than the keyboard one), and it worked. Great stuff!! Thanks for the workaround. This is related to the language spell checker as informed here Have fun now

@UniSuperBox, Makes sense. I recall some years ago when I was using Firefox, or maybe Mozilla Suite (it was a while ago, before Mozilla/Firefox were recognized identities), I sometimes had to change the identity of the browser to IE to be able to fill out online forms. The identity was somewhere in the Tools/Web Developer options (though I don't currently see anything like this in Firefox).

@dobey said in Paid proprietary apps on Open Store?: Nobody is against you making a paid app and putting in the store. WTF? To be clear! I dont have that intention. Its not about me making money. I think I will leave it there. I have meant it in good faith, but I think it does not make any sense to go further.

The Pinebook (original), PineTab and PinePhone range of devices from Pine64 seem to share much underlying hardware. But the Pine64 website itself states that: "The PINETAB is similar in both form, function and underlying ARM64 architecture to the original 11.6″ PINEBOOK." But, be that as it may, the answer given in the Q&A stands on its own.
