Yeah obviously the FP2 has a lot of problems of its own, that are definitely not specific to UT, and be not mistaken, I had a great experience with this OS and am not reverting to Android; it's just that pooky asked about the FP2, and here is its current state of porting ^^

@arubislander, All update options (system update and ubports-installer) are interrupted at the firmware installation stage (ubuntu touch logo and line installation indicator), except one-manual installation via TWRP. To update the device I have to download separately the firmware and run the installer in TWRP environment. Is there a link to new releases of updated ubports firmware where I could download it and install manually?

Hello. Maybe you want to take a look at this section of the docs where you can find some areas you can help with. Basically, depends on you skills and interest. You can bug-hunt, translate, fix bugs, create a cool app, talk about the OS, write posts and spread the word, ...

Well, I basically never use "office" tools so for me, none of those things are necessary. LibreOffice is not a converged application, so it would not be ideal for such work. Web office tools such as Google Docs/Sheets/etc… should all work well in the browser though. If LibreOffice is a requirement for you and there are some problems, please report specific issues for the different problems, in GitHub. Libertine is an experimental feature to enable the use of legacy applications. It is not feature complete or 100% stable. Native converged apps will always give a better experience than legacy apps. If things are "missing" to be a "complete office workstation" then the best thing to do would be to work on writing properly converged native applications to fill those gaps.

@dad_and_alive Yes, I shall do that. I was hoping there was an app or something built in somewhere to tell you your battery capacity. I have one from lineageos or android or something. Might have just been fun to see numbers.

@MJH hi, I've read your post several times and I'm not sure what you're looking for. Anyway, this is a volunteer based project so if you're missing something, roll up your sleeves and do it

Ubuntu Touch is not a traditional PC Linux distro, so no, you can't just use everything in the same way as you might with such a linux distribution. In particular, I don't think any of the supported devices have any virtualization support, so you wouldn't be able to use qemu/kvm on them, no. As mentioned though, you can create a Libertine container for using legacy CLI and X11 applications, though many apps may have various issues with that.

I tried numerous combinations of acceptable kernels and roms no dice through multirom for ubuntu touch unless it can be installed manually and not through the app somehow. Once you have proper a multirom twrp, multirom zip, and kexechardboot accepted kernel it is still possible to multiboot any other roms aswell as sailfish os. The multirom app itself is the problem because it always says now "failed to get information about the updates". The only way it was possible was before was clicking the option to install ub through the app which no longer appears unfortunately. It would be great if someone could revive this or modify the app to work again. If anyone does still have it configured this way don't uninstall it or you'll be pretty bummed like I was when I went to install it again.

@saveurlinux That's pretty much the same as reflashing. You can get the same result using the latest installer now and NOT choosing wipe https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer/releases/tag/0.2.6-beta

@TotalSonic said in Open Store's warning sucks big. Can we have a "Safe Store"?: If they were honest - both Google Play Store and Apple iOS App Store would come with gigantic ominous warnings for tons of apps as well - but they don't Well, they do, but the wording isn't scary, and you need to understand the permissions systems to be able to understand what's being asked for when installing apps; but people aren't taught to understand this. Also, the Ubuntu Touch security model is largely based on what iOS does here, so they are quite close, though I don't think iOS has an unconfined profile like we do.
