Thanks for this. I'm probably going to go quiet for a bit but I'll be back. Got a trip to make and some reading to do. Now I know how to start the next problem is probably going to be making enough space for a side by side implementation. It's a good point though.

@tuxer3321 As stated there, the device is not supported by the installer. In order to get it integrated, someone should help contribute to a config file (documentation here) IDK if the developer that made this port can help, maybe ping them on github. https://github.com/Vin4ter/Ubports-Onclite-redmi7/

@JGSvz9Wkgxka4UfH Since you are so safety-focused person, just a foot note: do not leave your phone in hands of unknown persons. UT doesn't suport drive encryption yet, that means that any person with a little technical know-how could access your information, but as I said: they need phisical access to your phone. Stay safe!

First of all, the UI of Firefox isn't responsive or convergent so it's barely usable on small screens. Other distros on the Pinephone/Pinetab has some workarounds but it's still not as usable as the Morph browser on smaller screens. Another factor is that on android-based UT devices, pure Mir is used which Firefox does not support and probably will never do. However, UT will be transitioning to wayland on Mir, which the Pinephone/Pinetab already use, and once that's fully done then I would think it'll be easier to user Firefox on UT with decent performance. At the moment, it'll be slow on Libertine/Xmir.

The Sailbook webapp provides for a good experience for Facebook in my use of it. One thing I like about it, better than Facebook on Android, is you can easily send and receive messages on it without needing Facebook's intrusive Messenger app. Missing features with Sailbook are lack of video chat, and lack of ability to view Live streams while they are being broadcast. As for Whatsapp - support is lacking and much better options for messaging services that provide greater privacy are Telegram (using TELEports client), Matrix (using Fluffy Chat), and Signal (via Axolotl). Best regards, Steve Bereon

@Lakotaubp see, told you so. I'm happy for you that you found a replacement phone/parts and your Op3 is working again. Unfortunately, the third party phone parts are sometimes hit or miss.

@dave_f1 If I understand correctly you want to train yourself, so I think it is easier for you to create a simple app for starter. You can check the documentation about clickable and native app development: http://docs.ubports.com/fr/latest/appdev/index.html

@Lakotaubp I'm guessing it came from this: https://twitter.com/Mariogrip/status/1281356772897325056 And in addition there is the project to package Lomiri for Debian which would bring Lomiri to many (including Antix ?) . But still guesses ; will wait for @nexus5 to clarify.

@arubislander This thread I started was aimed to get insight in the possible porting of the OnePlus Nord. As such I hadn't planned to discuss the differences between Pinephone and Librem 5. And I shouldn't have posted my earlier comment, reading back I was wrong as I was referring to the binary blob for the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth issue still in the back of my mind. I'm sorry about that, the last thing I want is to keep any misconceptions alive. The last sentence has been striked through and apologies to @PINE64 are in place.

The real question, why is this feature not tied to [CONTROL]+[+]/[-]? This is the expected UI/UX of almost everything these days.

@david-boddie Yes we finally received at least one device, but with the other activities which we had to start earlier (ongoing from last year already) we made a list of priorities, and Librem5 is in the queue. That said, a working Pinephone image will almost likely work immediately also on the Librem5, so there is not much to do basically. Anyone who has a Librem5 can try to follow the steps of Pinephone and see how far they get.

@arjun said in Are there any projects to run Android apk files run natively on UT?: @TotalSonic will android work as a subsystem on UT? Is that possible? Any pre installed FOSS client of playstore will be great too What you are asking for is Anbox. AFAIK Anbox is not an emulator but a containerized Android userspace running on the same Linux Kernel. That is almost as running it natively. Other than that, there are efforts to port Flutter to desktop Ubuntu.
