@emkay Glad to see that we are compatriot! Indeed, all depends form your budget and from exactly what you're looking for. Living in Switzerland as well I'm using a Nexus 5 as second daily phone. You can find some (new or new refurbished) on several platforms such as Aliexpress, Ebay, etc...) Prices vary from 30.- to 120.- depending on the general condition of the device. Despite the fact that it is quite old now, I must admit that it works wonderfully! I would also recommand Xperia X Performance which is a new port offering a progressing good maturity on UT as well as an excellent Price/Quality ratio (approx. CHF. 180.- for a new one). You can easily find some by most internet retailers.

@13arz for the server, Vulkan is just another way that clients draw buffers that the server doesn't care about. The only issue to address is shipping the buffer to the server. That work isn't done (or likely to be done) with mirclient, but is done with Wayland. It should "just work" after the Wayland migration (for graphics stacks that enable Vulkan clients).

@A_Zurburich said in Help to escape from android !: Pinephone is good if u want to buy new and I believe u can choose to have ubports pre-installed. Plus long last support, open source hardware with privacy priority, and get rid of proprietary androïd software components ^^

@Matteo555 If you look here and it is the same device then you can see work has begun on that device https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ If you can assist you may want to get in touch with those working on the port. However as there is no active porting thread for that device at present I am moving this post to Off Topic.

I have added a translation for the reason mentioned by @Keneda who has also very helpfully pointed out the current state of that device port. As that port is not active I have moved this post to Off Topic.

Music is being played by the media-hub. It sends Mpris2 compatible signals on dbus. So a small service (for example in python) can pickup the meta data of the played tracks and send it to LastFM.

Good points and I totally agree (also have ordered the pinephone) but I'm hoping, maybe overly optimistically, that we can steer them to open source hardware and grow enough in numbers because of successful pinephones to make it happen Because I see the pinephone as a proof-of-concept and would like something more high end as a daily driver :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

@TotalSonic said in Volla Phone to be soon in UBports devs hands!: as far as I can see the fault in that lays with Purism's mismanaging and over promising, and not with any lack of cooperation, effort or desire from the folks in UBports. I don't see where i said the opposite. I talk about purism yes, about the fact they sent devkit like 6 month or more late to ubports, and it was made with maintenances parts. I talk about the fact they didn't send a single Librem 5 even if there are some phones in the wild now. And i talk in a general maner when people just fork projects or make the wheele again from scratch "no i don't like how they do, i'll do better"... I mean we need a strong GNU/linux mobile OS alternative to GAFAM ones, not five or more actors spinning out end users and devs skills. I though we got it with UT since five years i'm using it, but no, not to everyone in the linux community as i see, and i'm quite disapointed with that.

@Marathon2422 Never seen it neither and i follow uTouch since Ubuntu One was anounced for crowdfounding, and later have got my MX4 when it came out. Anyway it will not be ubported unless owner of one decide and have skills to.
