It appears someone finally figured out how to unlock the bootloader of most Windows phones, but I don't see any successful Android ROMs, nor much development, for the HP Elite X3. It's a start, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. https://liliputing.com/2019/01/pretty-much-every-recent-windows-phone-is-now-hackable.html

@Conner Me and my wife are using Nexus 5 on daily basis. I bought two NEW items on eBay and they are still available there. We also have NEW BQ M10 HD (cooler) and it's still also available on eBay. The downside of new Nexus 5, however, is that it's quite old and I had to replace original battery (made on January of 2014) after two months of usage. Another known issue is it's power button that may cause a boot loop year or two later.

@karvet Hi, I moved your topic to this section as it's more suitable. The "Porting" category is for ongoing device ports. You might want to check this post though : https://forums.ubports.com/topic/206/will-you-port-to-device-x And this one for supported devices : https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ Thanks for your understanding.

@Mic_ I already locked one of these https://forums.ubports.com/topic/3983/print-respirator-masks-with-a-3d-printer-to-protect-against-corona I'm going to do the same with this for the same reason. Please don't post similar again. We are not a medical sight and have no knowledge of the the safety value of any of these links. The next one will be deleted. Thank you.

@Mic_ I have moved your post to OT as it is not directly linked to UT. We know Coronavirus is highly dangerous but of what medical value these actually are is up to you. We are in no way endorsing anything in theses links. I am also inclined to lock the subject for similar reasons. Thanks for your understanding. If you want medical advice on Corona there are links in the blog post for Q&A 72 https://ubports.com/blog/ubports-blog-1/post/ubuntu-touch-q-a-72-268

@ramonb To make it short.. No you can't. Smartphones don't have Intel or AMD processor with hardware detection. They are using usually ARM processors without and the os needs to be always exactly written for that specific hardware. So basically each hardware, even if there is only small changes, it needs it's own operating system with ARM processors.

Moved this to Off Topic as it's not directly related to an ongoing port. The information you need for porting can be found here https://forums.ubports.com/topic/2068/halium-first-steps As each device needs porting individually and takes a lot of knowledge and effort it's not easy, even if it is possible for that device (which I am really not sure of).

This topic has now moved off topic for porting so that's where I'm going to move it. I am also going to lock as this thread already exists on the forum https://forums.ubports.com/topic/3390/suggestions-recommendations-for-touchscreen-laptop-2-in-1-tablet and more than covers the direction of this thread. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

@guru it is because the web portal for Whatsapp doesn't do anything without a phone connected to their service... for whatever reason... I'm stunned that Whatsapp is considered work communication appropriate

Also, the same UI will be displayed on the external screen. It's not like on MaruOS where the phone remains Android and the external display will be a lightweight linux desktop. In UT, the UI you see on your phone will just adjust a bit to fit more of a desktop experience.

@Aurze Hi, I made the client for domoticz, I chose it after some tests and it fit my needs. About the protocol, I use ZWave, not open sourced, but there are opensource controllers. I chose ZWave because of the wide ecosystem of sensors and actors and because I needed a wireless meshed network. I like Fibaro's design and products in general but I tried several brands for light bulbs. Regarding the price tag, in Europe you can find various ZWave sensors around 30€ (seems to be the minimum price so it should cover the ZWave licence) I'm interested in your findings as I would like to have a more open domotic universe at home. If you use domoticz, I would love some feedback to improve the UX. (I'm working on adding local caching and customization but it's not ready yet)
