    • [Call for] Nominations for the UBports Community Awards

Nominations are now open for the UBports Community Awards.
Since this is the first run at having these awards, I thought
its best to keep things a bit simple.
Here are the final two categories:

      • Community favourite app
      • Community favourite developer

Everyone can suggest up to two nominees for each category.
Nominations close on the evening of 1 Dec.
      Leave your suggestions below.

For each nomination, indicate the category, nominee and a short paragraph about why you are nominating this person/app.

Prize: A large pizza for each category.

    • Snaps tested

I thought it might be useful to have a list of snaps that run well on UT.
I will slowly populate this list as I try things.

    • RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 172 Call for Questions

Could you add a segment to the 'show' where you give an example of how to get things done on UT?

I think many people need to figure out ways to work in UT since it is quite different from android but many of these ideas don't make their way to the 'general UT public'.

For example, there was a discussion about getting uwolf or firefox to sync passwords. This is a great alternative to the non-functioning password manager apps and makes life a lot easier.
Or maybe demo how to use ghostcloud.

I think these 'FYI' segments can help ease the transition for many people.

BTW if you can't do some things here it's because your reputation is not already high enough.

I couldnt find how to increase reputation... There isnt any links on the landing page to guide new users on how use the platforw.

I would need the same for Swedish BankID soon. I have tried to avoid waydroid for battery drain issues, but I will likely have no choice for Swedish banks.

    • zfs on Ubuntu touch

      Hello

I have an external harddrive that I use for as a portable 'home partition'. Its formatted with zfs and I have been using to to effortlessly move between using different computers (laptop, desktop, work) and have all my files all the time.
If I wanted to use it with an Ubuntu touch device, I would need to have a functioning zfs installation on the device. I heard in one of the podcasts that installing things via apt is not supported and the root partition only has 3GB of space.

Is it feasible/possible to install zfs on UT? I guess a snap installation of zfs is very unlikely.

@lsitongia with the installer you can install UT again and choose 'do NOT wipe data'. I had to do the same. it went smoothly. I lost no data, nothing broke.

    • App for bug reports?

      Hello
I might have missed it. Is there an app for 'automatically' populating gitlab/github bug reporting?
For me at least, I would be more inclined report bugs if it were easier.
It would help you guys too because you could get the app to send logs etc that are necessary for examining the problem.

    • RE: Bug Bounty Programs and Funding for Programs/bugs

It would be good to have some clear advice to non-developer on how we can encourage work on stuff that we felt was needed.
Maybe the OS development should not be guided by ad-hoc money waving from the community, but if we wanted an app to be ported or if we needed a bug to be dealt with, it would be great to know how we can nudge some development in that direction.

This should not be an alternative to supporting UBports directly but it could be a way to supplement app development.

Maybe the first question should be: What is the UBports developers choice of platform for bug bounties?
How should be let the developers know that we want something addressed and we (the community) will organise the bounty.
