@projectmoon The main problem that currently prevents using Wayland for electron apps, is that the On-Screen-Keyboard cannot work with GTK+Wayland+Mir1.x . By the way the Merezhyvo Browser ( popriatary app ! ) is an electron app using Wayland, but it has found it's way around this problem by coding it's own OSK inside the app itself, which is not really a way I want to go. (Especially for Signal because I want to modify the code only as strictly necessary, and also because for Signal there are other problems when it comes to using it in Wayland mode with Mir1.x). Anyway I've already tried it (see in the Signal UT topic), and reallu the best is to wait for Mir2.x, I hope it won't be in too long.

@Lakotaubp Its too late to remove account from app because app is factory reset (there is no account). I could try to login again but that was dummy account I doubt if I remember username and password. I dont need to use Matrix I just wanted to point out potential security/privacy issue (probably not on ubuntu side but concerning ubuntu users anyway)

@dave1152000 Your better off asking in the Xperia thread https://forums.ubports.com/topic/3229/sony-xperia-x-suzu-f5121 for now as this is specific to the Xeperia and probably down to on going porting work. If not a porting issue there is a specific arm64 app thread https://forums.ubports.com/topic/3323/arm64-apps-and-testing/54

@dobey said in Encrypting data at rest?: Encryption is still an iffy topic for things like Ubuntu Touch, for several reasons, some of which are solvable, and some which aren't: ecryptfs is deprecated upstream We don't have access to hardware backed key storage We don't have usable OSK in recovery We can't re-lock the bootloader I agree with points 2, 3, and 4. Re. point 1, that is true, but fortunately crytpsetup and LUKS are not deprecated, and that's what a few of us I know who run encrypted home are using. It's an imperfect solution and probably not an effective barrier to a skilled attacker, but I feel reasonably comfortable it would stop most people who find or steal a phone from viewing the contents. Re. 3, PMOS has an OSK they can build into their initramfs, but I'm not sure it supports anything other than ASCII so without further development might not be a solution for many users even if it could be ported to UT and placed somewhere in both the boot process and recovery.

@Kunai You should not need to change or uninstall the installer just use the latest version for your system https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer I have no direct experience with the fairphone but try the installer with a different usb cable also use recovery to clear the cache factory reset and try again. Also ask here https://t.me/WelcomePlus as it is the weekend things are a bit slower. Also use the search function on the forum for help ther are lots of Fairphone posts on here. Good luck

Just to let you all know (a year later) no OTA update so far broke my changes to ca-certificates. But it might be a case, that this part of file system simply wasn't updated either and it might get overwritten eventually with the next OTA.

While USSD GSM codes are universal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unstructured_Supplementary_Service_Data these seem to just use a similar syntax but are not actually transmitted over the GSM network. Thus I agree that this probably can't work on UT unless specifically implemented.

@doniks its just a .img file contained in a .gz just extract the .gz file and flash the resulting image onto a USB drive (or a harddrive depending on if you'd wanna install it as main os)

@schouk IIRC you tried investigating the media hub and other ways to send the audio. Now it looks like "solving" the issue with bluetooth was achieved by degrading the audio quality to allow it to be more fluid... It was explained that when the phone is locked the processor is slower. Maybe the audio stream from spotify is too hard to decode in real time for the processor. Bluetooth is known to have a lower bitrate so the audio stream is lighter than the original one. My guess is that bluetooth requiring a lower bandwidth the processor is now able to process the audio stream in real time. Or maybe downgrading the stream is easier than processing it through the audio output... What I would try is to bufferize the stream to give some slack to the processor to produce a clean audio output. I hope this can help. [Edit] Maybe it's just RAM usage restricting the buffer size hence leading to those audio glitches

I sync the pictures (fotos or screenshots) to my FreeBSD laptop with: $ cd /home/guru/UbuntuPhone/rsyncedFromBQ $ rsync -rav phablet@192.168.2.102:Pictures . This is done by SSH over Wifi (works as well over USB tethering).
